Challenge my self perception
Show me that I am not the only vault you keep
And I am not the singular candle in the window
Nor am I your solitary partner in crime
I, alone, do not shoulder the weight of your world.

And that,
Is okay.

I wonder
Is the earth simply insecure?
Beneath twenty or so miles of dirt and dust
Some places harder than others,
She buries her brilliance.
Her effervescent truth hidden away.

Underneath it all,
She really is a star,
Hot as her sun's surface.
Capable of wonders
And destruction.
Disaster documentaries got me thinking...

Even after
All
This
Time

You still captivate me.
Picturesque in your passion
Like a lighthouse,
Channeling your energy, golden.
You shine

And though there are times when it hurts to stare
I can't look away from your flame.

Sometimes, you just know
And you don't want it confirmed.
We've all been there. Trust your gut.

I thought about it
on and on
and on
and on
and on
and again
Til I realized
I am my own
before I am anyone else's
I am free
But I am scared
of being too free

Too much liberty
Can cage me
The Sun played with her hair as if It were her lover,
Stroking scarlet strands with Its finger-like rays.
How beautiful she must have seemed to the Sun!
Its warmth cupped her chin and guided her smile closer to the light.
Only the Sun could make her cheeks blush the way they did,
Flushing full of color to match her mass of locks.

She danced with the Sun, toes pointed and back poised.
Her arms caressed the warm beams, and her fingers trailed across the streams of light,
The ends of her hair twirling along her hips,
The same hips that the Sun wrapped around.

The two celestial bodies were so intimate,
Embracing and intertwining.
And I was just a boy longing for a love
Such as the love between
Her and the Sun.
The more you resist
the longer they persist.
