If I were Irresponsible
I would Hallucinate—
To Dream for months if possible
and put away the Wait.

The many Persons doing hence
With Magic little screens—
Have thrown away to Consequence
their smallish sombre Scenes.
when I wear the shoes you want
I can't walk very far

when I wear the shoes you want
I can't walk quietly at all

when I wear the shoes you want
I can't outrun you anymore

someone that you can control

I think that is what you want

In the quiet
In the stillness
Sun rising and shining
Being grateful and appreciative
Sometimes even that is not enough
But if you are thankful for another day to try again
Another chance to love your family and friends
Another chance to contribute to the world making it better
and brighter
Enjoy your day because you earned it

We're loose power lines in an angry storm. Dangerous
because we state truths that mere mortals don't want
to hear. They color inside the lines and live within
the box. They seek safety. At times I envy them.

I refuse to live in a black and white world.
I drag crayons wildly on the paper and draw
what others can only entertain in nightmares.
We'll gather in alleys and graffiti our hearts.
I take my morning walk.
Through tunnels of bleached trees. Over the remains of names long forgotten by those who promised never to forget them.
I close my eyes.
To check on the multi car pile up of words in the back of my mind. A twisted burning wreckage of things left unsaid, things I’d like to say, and things I wish I didn’t know.
It’s been going on for so long the death toll of ideas is immeasurable.
There’s nothing to do now but listen to their screams.
