 May 2019 Phosphenes
Jamison Bell
She’s a painting in motion.
Could I love her?
From a thousand yards out on the darkest night to be found.
Yes.
Even in the absence of light in my life.
I could love her.
But I won’t.
To add me to the landscape of her painting, her life.
Would only serve to muddy the imagery.

I've confessed
I've tried
I've told all the secrets that I've held
To only be held at the same place

I've wanted to hold you
I've wanted to kiss you
But then there you go
Off into the crowd of people
Never slowing for a second

I've watched you leave
Seen you turn away from me
Then see you talking to someone else

You may have had problems
You may have had worries
You may have had imperfect memories
But I had to watch you go...
