Memories are like clouds—

some are like the white fluffy ones

floating carelessly in the sky

bringing happiness and joy

putting a smile on the face

                    and

some are like the dark clouds

that stays, bringing with them

thunder and lightning

causes pain in the heart

and bring tears to the eyes.

Outside my window,
planted is a fiery red-
branched tree,
I watch on, it stands bold
and oh so elegantly.
I try to imagine if it were a woman
What would her appearance be —

Would she be in one of Dali’s paintings
‘Woman Aflame’?
Would she be ‘Demelza’ in Poldark’s series?
Or would she be a spirit woman
ablaze for all the world to see,
Your creation and Your infinite beauty?

No need for clocks
knowing in your bones that it’s 5:01 in the morning.
Time is being kept by something else now.
Waking in the mornings is effortless and free of any anxiety.
Every soft step taken is followed with weights falling. Burdens lifted. Coffee with the women. The men outside or in the barn

the wind moves my feet.
my eyes shining like the sun and the sea.

"your love brings me to my knees."

her sigh is a whisper
soft like autumn leaves
silently falling to the cold ground.

the shadow of a smile.
my heart misplaced
like a paper lantern in the rain.

my broken sky,

her soft sigh
and I was no longer hers.

I slid down a hill of leaves,
It looked strong and stable; first fable!
But alas, I didn't realise there had been rain the night before—I'd been off on another escapade, unaware.

I then was late to my walking track,
So I ran to meet my pack
But rolled my ankle
In a flurry of activity, snap!

From limping round
Then, jumping on my bike
In order to get to work on time,
It was off the chain that this rhyme came, bespoke.

Life is never the same
When you reflect,
And try to explain
Cause and effect.
