The Calendar Man
He wakes everyday and respire
Grateful yearly as calendars expire
He shouts glory for the end of December
But his time is passing away like a burning ember

He wails at the demise of the older
Forgetting about the stranger waiting to enter
His lifetime flying away like an eagle
But he finds solace in the company of his people

Up his sleeves are so many agenda
His average weight being seventy complete calendars
Each year his grave beckons,
But the calendar man fails to reckon

His whole being senescence,
He envisions his own absence,
He wallows in ill health
Edging closer to his last breath

Doubt
Doubt is an infestation of 'what ifs': a swarming ideation of innuendos
A breakfast of procrastination
A lunch of caution
An antidote of presumptuousness
A poison of time

The heart of battle
A dark sun in the horizon
Echoes of wailers travel through deafened ears
Mother Earth could not hold backs its emotion
The blood of the slain heavy as hailstones

On the cheeks of warriors stood watery signs,
Calloused hands could not hold them back
The agony ripped out their severed hearts
Regret found a new companion

Where would the rain come from?
Where would succour meet solace?
Memories flooding away in the river of tears
An undeserving end for strong men of battle

Tales to be told by future generations
Songs forever to be sung by even the unborn
A sad story
A doomsday

Aftermath
A great army of men out of seclusion
Sounds of joy ricochet through the street
Memories of lost ones lingering in their minds
A breath of fresh air

Humans stepping their feet unto new grounds
Mortals appreciating their relationships the more
Inspired for a new dream with renewed energy
Unfurling a new chapter of life's adventure

Nature returning to its spark
A freshness of the morning dew
A shedding of old skin
A new life, a new start.
