If I love you from afar
I never miss being by your side
If I never say hello then
I'll never have to suffer through goodbye
...
Distance hurts and so does love
One day you'll be gone
and I have to figure out
how to deal with that

Today is better than yesterday
Before I couldn’t see
Everyday taught me
              To be me
No matter what
Today is better
I can finally be me
All of these trials made me cry
No matter what
I will have high standards
Of respect and honesty
Today is better than yesterday
I can finally be me
Did you ever see a flower?
Watching it bloom
It has so much power
Nothing like a rain shower
Did you ever see the sun?
It shines bright
      Full of fun
Did you ever go to the beach
Reaching for sea shells?
Did you ever want to teach?
Did you ever watch the sunset?
Open your eyes, open your eyes
Did you ever take time
            To be yourself?
Did you wish people were different?
Did you miss the past?
Open your eyes, open your eyes
Keep living for today
And everyday
Did you ever see a flower
With so much power?
Did you ever
Sit back
Curl up
Stand up
Whatever you do
Think of calm,
like a warming,
soothing balm

I am told that I’m simpatico
Affable and carefree
Easy to get along with
At the center of my Chi
I only want acceptance
A hug or warm embrace
The camaraderie of laughter
While standing face to face
Bonding us together
My senses opened wide
Completely unrevealing, still
Of my darker side
The yin and yang of selfdom
Both negative and fine
Aged, until it’s reached perfection
Like a semi dry red wine
I'm looking for my husband.  He has
disappeared into some place inside
his mind, like a sea creature slides
into a coral bed.

Quick now, here he is for a moment
or an hour.  Like a Robin bobs in
the yard, he is beautiful in his song
before he vanishes into the sky,
flying above or around me.

Are his pieces forever gone? Will
I find a kiss behind my chair meant
for me alone? Will my sorrow erase
the years of love?

I will be brave today.  Tomorrow
I will be the coral he needs. A small
animal in a very large and
strange ocean. .
