BANG—I am no longer asleep.

weights on eyes
dragging shades down over windows
bringing darkness into my home
ghostly thoughts swirl through my skull
building, building, until they overflow
bursting through the windows
sending pure sorrow spilling
down

fear-frozen branches hang limp
half-severed limbs dangling by shattered sinews
scattered green pearls illuminated in the muted florescent light
but a dark void where the unnatural light can not reach
palms spread facing in towards a towering, gaunt figure

yelling.

scald the skin of
a woman bathing with
coals.
