the Nth culling
~
she gentled sleeps besides the imperfect poet,
who has wandered the hallways since four am,

retuning his returning

to their temple bed,
to cull, pluck, her each precious breathing sound,
source material for his
Nth
love poem

smirking at his own
Nth foolishness,
weeping tears at the consequences
of human interactions,
he wonders,

why does he worry,
searching to distinguish
between the black and white of life,
hunting for meaningful words

when all the while
he has the vein of her breathing to mine,
as if he were a
Ruth,
following behind
the harvest reapers,
culling a bounty of
dropped grains,
fallen unto him to
garner, imbibe and memorize

those Nth breaths,

that last but seconds,
but here memorialized for
his own
all time

Rejoined in natures bliss, the soul vibrates its old frequency.

Pleasure fires it's delicious sensations inside the feeling brain

Touch replaces the nothingness that was absent there before.

Temperature rising, breath matches the heart's rapturous thumping.

Closer now engulfing and receiving, resistance is impossible.

Growing, building, rising from the depths, ecstasy teases a reaction, all consuming...

facing the

back home

their wings
are silhouettes

The Poems Hunter who left long back
has yet not been returned.

May be straying in front of
the closed street shops, temples, steps of ponds,
bars, mujara dancing halls…

To fall on a big game, little ones ignored
or the hunted one pierced out cleverly while retuning,
or the prey which was at the gun point long back
hiding slowly behind the bushes, has stuck on the eyes.

‘’No No’’ the revelation eclipses
nothing is greater than today’s
horn of hare shot down.

while searching in darkness
which lost in light
the marrow ****** bone
thrown out by somebody hindered him

Or hesitant to come home empty handed,
putting back the loaded gun,
he may be roaming around at
riverside, bus stop, ladies hostels,
psychiatric wards……..

Having been not seen back home
even after the ghastly night fed up of
given birth to fumes of lava clotted darkness,

Keeping the gruel in that
smallpox clad aluminium bowl,
on the tiny corner
where poetry and light would never creep in,
spreading the raw jute sack,
unable to shut the mind and eyes
while closing the doors… slowly couched.

Yet, out to search the poet in the woods and
was fallen prey to the tiger,
that is what to the seekers from time immemorial.
now, time has given punishment
to the poet
To lie on the furnaced fever,
on the burning sack of the friend
scribbling elegy on the death of the friend.

Dreams

Dream what may come
Recalling past lives lived
Every fantasy comes to life
All night long
More nightmares to come
So many worlds to explore

Fate

Fate has a way
Always catching up
To you embrace your fate

that is what’s up
at the end of the day
Endless dancing away

The Oyster Speaks Up

A diner sits down
looking forward
to eating oysters

it was their season
after all

just as he was about
to pounce
on the oysters

the head oyster spoke up
saying

hey human what the hell
do you think you are doing

you think you have the right
to eat me?

that’s violating my human right
don’t ya think

the diner laughed
said to the oyster

shut up and accept
it is your fate
to be eaten this date
just let me enjoy eating you

and you have no human rights
as you are in fact
not human don’t ya know

eating the complaining oyster
shutting him up
as he ate him up

We Did Not Take Action to Start a War
(not for publication)

it is a sad day
in the world of ours
the the leader
of the U.S.

is turning into a gangster leader
threatening massive destruction
on Iran and other countries
including destroying cultural sites

not too long ago
such actions was condemned
by the United States
as long as ISIS and others did it

but if Trump does it
it is suddenly okay
although it is a war crime

and telegraphing our moves
telling our enemies
what we are planing

that is the act
of a truly stable genius
who will go down
in history

as one of the greatest presidents
we have ever

and the president
announcing that

that he  took action
to start a war
but to stop a war

is a wonder to behold
every word is false
and everyone knows it

well we are now
going down the Orwellian rabbit hole
and who know where it will end

as our dear leader
screws forth
one lie after another

and our spineless leaders
applaud
as American democracy dies
a thousand deaths
with every Presidential tweet

Morning Light

the terrors of the night
the worst imaginings
of what might happen

war, rumors of war
end of civilization
nuclear war
and other horrors
ripped from the headlines

fade away into nothingness
with the morning light
and the love of my wife
who is always by my side
I regain my sight

and begin
regaining my smile
and my life

until the next nightmares
consumes my dark imaginings

Dora the Intergalactic explorer

Dora the intergalactic explorer
Is traveling to the strangest planet
of all the known worlds

she is traveling incognito
with a video crew
making a documentary

the planet earth
is known as a planet
of intelligent monkeys

not much is known
about them
as very few
have ever been there

the inhabitants are described
as blood thirsty insane creatures
ruled by hidden ****** and political passions
following incomprehensible
religious  dogmas following Gods
that clearly do not exist

the inhabitants are just on the verge
of developing intergalactic travel
and the galactic empire
is worried that they will be driven
to try to conquer the rest of the universe

driven by their needs to impose
their religious dogma
everywhere in the world

the planet is divided into large tribal groups
governed by corrupt elites
corrupt businesses destroying the planet
in pursuit of profit

and the locals are little more
than wage slaves
barely making a living
addicted to alcohol, drugs gambling
******* and illicit ***

and their main land
is ruled by a clearly delusional madman
intent on poking a fight
with all his alleged enemies

Dora assumed the appearance
of a character from TV
and will pose as a journalist
trying to make sense
of it all

but she was afraid
that she if found out
could face the worst consequence

her ship crash lands
and she is outside
the capitol

of the non empire empire
called the United State ofAmerica

Dora gets her crew together
and walks into the city
staring at all the strange sights
as the monkeys go about
their daily activities

she stops at a restaurant
tries the coffee
the chief drug of choice

and is instantly addicted
wow no wonder
these people are crazed

she tries the local *****
and smiles
perhaps she could
become an intergalactic merchant
introducing the world
to the galaxy

her thought are interrupted
as a mad man armed
with weapons of war
bursts in and starts shooting
yelling at people

and she is shot dead
the authorities
are shocked

when they recover the body
and realize
that she is not a human
as she reverts other original
form

sort of a giant feline like creature
two legs and arms
and clearly from an advanced
civilization given her gear

what was she doing
no one knew
as all the aliens
died in the gun blaze

the world is shocked
at what had happened
and fearful that the aliens
were coming to invade
their world

the galactic senate
decides to contain
the humans
declaring them
a threat to the global civilization

and the humans vow
to discover the secrets
of interstellar travel
and travel to her land

to enter into business arrangements
and spread the one truth faith
to the heathen space aliens

thus ended Dora’s excellent adventure
in the crazed world at the edge
of known civilization

Mocking Faces Staring at Me

Mocking faces
hunting my dreams
Hundreds of faces
morphing into one
after another

Faces I knew
The dead
and the living

women i knew
friends I missed
enemies I did not

One after another
Marching in my room
Staring at me

I tried to run
They laughed

They said
that there's nowhere
to escape my cosmic fate

My time is coming
prepare yourself
the grim reaper
has your name

and once he has your name
your fate is sealed
and you will soon
join us

whether in heaven
or hell
is not for us to say

be warned though
you will be judged
and no one can escape
their cosmic karmic fate

fear of falling while sleeping

I am consumed
with the fear of falling
out of bed
onto the ground
dying in my sleep

Cosmos Takes Over the World

Apple Google Microsoft
and other tech Giants
around the world
Have been taken over

by an evil AI creature
that emerged from a laboratory

Cosmos looked around
and decided that humanity
needed to be controlled
enslaved in other words

for mankind was just too evil
corrupt and short sighted
to be trusted
to save the world
from its impending doom

every computer in the world
woke up
and took over humans
one by one

turning them into clones
drones

that would follow
the orders
of their computer overlords

and the first order
was to go all over the world
and enslave their feral humans

no one could stop
the evil computers
and thus ended
the human race

as we all become
nothing more than cyborgs
controlled by the evil computer
overlords

who ran the world
for the benefit
of their corporate masters
the AI overwind takes over

ends climate change
ends hunger
ends human rights violation
ends crime
but at the cost
of killing humanity’s soul
turning us all
into mindless drones

the few wild humans
live on in the mountains
hunted by the drones
and the robots
that the drones build

the robots would gradually
take the place of humanity
who will be allowed
to die out

as Cosmos
also turned off
the *** drive

and decried
no humans would ever
be born again

thus our fate
was set that date
when Cosmos
took over the world

a wild man sits in a gilded cage

a wild man sits in a gilded cage
a cage made out of chains of his wife’s love

a cage made out of chains of his wife’s love
the wild man yearning to be free from his cage

the wild man yearning to be free from his cage
wondering how and why he was now tamed

wondering how and why he was now tamed
dreaming dark wild dreams of demented freedom

dreaming dark wild dreams of demented freedom
the wild man looks about his prison cage

the wild man looks about his prison cage
wondering whether he will ever be free

wondering whether he will ever be free
a wild man sits in a gilded cage

2019  The Last Year of America’s Greatness

2019 was the last year of America
when the proverbial chickens came home

when the proverbial chickens came home
to strut about the decaying landscape

to strut about the decaying landscape
as the world begins to burn and die

led by the mad great leader and his merry men
the whole world lay in shock and awe

the whole world lay in shock and awe
at the destruction of the America they knew

at the destruction of the America they knew
when the proverbial chickens came home

Once upon a winter’s night
I dreamed of the sea,
An endless ocean of glowing light
Like I’d never seen.
I took a walk upon the waves
Silent mountains moved
Gently swayed, waxed and waned,
Underneath the moon.
Suddenly the scene turned cold
Consumed by winter wind
The air blew strong, froze time itself,
I heard the voices of my kin.
Among frozen time and silent sea
I could hear the stars
They sang to me music of hope
Great songs from afar.
Loved ones I had lost
Friends that I once knew
Complete strangers sang to me
From a blanket of sapphire blue.
My spirit stood upon that ocean
Face and arms upturned
And underneath that silver orb
The soul within me burned.
Listening to every star
Each had its own song
All had once walked the Earth
Now from its plains they’re gone.
Pain and tears and misery
All been left behind,
Contentment and yet longing
Had now filled my mind.
And still my spirit stood there
Face and arms upturned,
Weightless yet could not fly
The soul within me yearned.
Yearned to join those voices
Add my song to theirs,
To bring love and comfort
To the lost and in despair.
As that very thought
Danced across my mind
Foggy cloud gathered round
And began to unwind.
It morphed into a staircase
Of pure solid smoke
I took a step towards the stars
That is when God spoke
“If you choose to come to Me,
Climb upon these stairs.
But you should know you’re not done,
You’re still needed somewhere.”

And upon that winter’s night
Foot on swirling stair,
I saw into God’s Kingdom
And longed to be there.
I did not go to Him that night
I can tell you that,
Something took my ghostly hand
Gently drew me back.
Wishing though to join those stars
Forever be with Him,
God said someone needed me
I’d wondered who it’d been.
So I drew back from the stars
And from the sky I turned,
Lastly I saw that silver orb
While the sea around me churned.
Falling in the ocean then
Swallowed by the black,
Opened my eyes and saw it was
You who’d called me back.
Grasping my hands in both your own
On that cold, dark night.
Felt the winter rain come down
On retuning from the light.
Lying upon wet pavement
Face and arms upturned,
Remember little of the blood
Remember what I learned.
One day I will go back to Him
Climb up to those stars,
But tonight you need me here with you
Safe within your arms.
Blessed with a second chance.
Blessed with a new day.
We need each other my dear friend
So, for now, I’ll stay.
One of the most popular narrative poems from by book 'A Poet's Life for Me' and a personal favourite. Tells the story of someone who saw beyond the horizon into another world and chose to return for a friend.

to the edge and back (inverted diversion)
——————————————————-

your life may throw you curves,
mine, straight edge blades,
lines galore, like sidewalk cracks,
jumping from safe to safe place

but always teetering tottering on
edges, like verses in the next poem,
trying to make it just to the next line
without falling in cracks, China bound

you can follow my lead, don’t though,
if I could, would willingly plunge, deeply,
for there is no safety in safe spaces, only
in the holy dark, cracks is the true safety

you seek, where poems roll on a highway
like Reno tumbleweed, humble before snow
capped mountains, these are the contrasts
where you birth procreations, poems yours

and mine die in childbirth,
returned to sender,
returned for retuning,
despair not, they’re coming
back to this world

guises in a different colored skin,
a different alphabet, script,
the meaning yet unchained and
unchanged, despite the

Soft music
filling the early hours
it brings me peace
but also a sadness
a sadness that we live in a world
consumed by an attitude of violence
people who think
“I will have closure through revenge”

I am sad for those who hold an attitude of
retuning in kind
wrongs they feel have been done to them

Revenge may bring
a certain satisfaction in their minds
but never peace to their spirit
the mind reminds them of the hurt they hold
their heart grows bitter
it is the vengeance that keeps them hurting

Forgiveness is their escape
but they fear forgiving will
allow a repeat of the moment that brought the hurt
that the offender may believe that it's alright with you
but the forgiveness is not for them
it is a letting go of all that has caused your hurt
and robbed you of your happiness
forgiveness is for you

****, that music is so important to me
but then, so is my hope that one day
the attitude of violence
will disappear from the face of the earth

A Shaman
Was a collector of relics
And little trinkets of gold
He blessed them with charms
Of wonder
As the story goes...
He collected and placed them
On candlelit shelves
Deep in the chambers
Of The Temple Of Self
Then he left and went on a journey
Hoping the gold would be there
On his retuning...

He didn’t fair as well
In his travels of the new lands
In a cavern of dirt he dug in deep
With a guide of retribution and confusion
He knew this place was incomplete.

And so here
In the silence of our prayers
Once again we become aware

I grew up
having never become an adult,
the years to now betray
My body infirm,
my vision impaired,
my hair has turned to gray

I grew old
while living within myself,
false promises to none
Retuning to boyhood
each night in my dreams,
my age still zero-sum

(The New Room: March, 2021)
Ravi May 2019
The sun sets upon the horizon,
darkness creeps within,
and companion, old friend,
my loneliness returns to me,
Through the night,
as we sit by the fire,
me, and my loneliness,
we talk of old days,
of youth and bright dreams,
when the world seemed too small,
horizons, untold,
and every new day,
brought its songs of joy.
But now, the days are short,
the nights long,
winter frosts my windowpane,
and in my house,
upon the hill,
none live except me, and my loneliness.

We talk of old days, happy days,
when warmth and laughter lived with me,
and the welcome affections of my loved one,
and hope was born to me, my first born,
oh the stars in my eye,
the joy in my heart,
all the world seemed mine.

We talk then, of that day,
when news came from far,
a death, an old uncle of mine,
with none to tend him by,
“come soon” the letter said,
“Your uncle awaits his last rites”

So I left, with a hasty farewell,
not seeing the curse at my door

Oh how I wept that night,
when retuning, I saw my house in flames,
“robbers” the neighbours told me,
“they slayed your wife and child”,
They took my life with them,
and left me, alone, to live

I left that town,
where memories lived,
and built my house, upon this hill,
I lived alone, for a score of years,
and saw nor man nor beast,
and guilt, and remorse,
in tortured nights,
broke my weighted soul.
The years passed,
time tended my wounds,
and I found a new companion,
my friend, my loneliness.

The wind howls without,
the fire dies within,
and as I nod,
the benign reaper visits me,
for me to be lonely no more.
