SCREAM
SCREAM
SCARE AWAY THE SILENCE

CONCRETE QUIET
THRUMMING
STRANGLING
STIFLING
CHO-
KIN
G

I CAN'T BREATHE
oh god

1...
breathe
2...
relax
3...

nothing feels real
i can't see ...
shrink back
i'm shaking...
blink

become
human
again

you laughed once
at a suicide joke

but now you hollow yourself
numb the crashing
of a turbulent sea
with unfeeling pain

watch with disinterest
as your body seeps ennui
dispassionately

wet cheeks
wet wrists
dry skies

it's fine.

No man is an island
but you are a continent

cartographers cannot map your shores in their complexity
pioneers risk death and drowning just for the chance to see your coasts

in your expanse there is the potential for life
and death
and in your valleys and ridges there is beauty

each blemish a vista
each freckle a point of interest
each scar a historic site

no one looks at the earth and calls it ugly.
