A Heart Unswaying
Written by Adam M. Snow

A heart unswaying on the water surface.
What burden is this; a love without a tragedy?
Such frail the human soul,
who are we to judge?
So easy are we to drown,
like a heart unswaying on the water surface,
so heavy that it sinks.

strange tides bring me here to this old place

long chained thoughts still bring me back  into your dark spaces

tiny places in my cold heart still beating with your traces

light feathery touches brush my soul

a soul song calls upon the winds pulling us near wherever

tiny etherial love threads still tangle us together

the wide sea of longing hides my hopes

I lay upon a rock in the calm of the dead sea praying

tiny glimpses of faith hold my love devoutly unswaying

bring yourself home to me my soul love

let death win as we shall when our hearts an souls from sheaths will rise

let us claim what this world will despise, love eternal, our greatest prize.

In another life, I would name you lover,
On my soul, I would carve your name,
let my arms be unswaying walls,
my chest a resting place for your weary head.

In this life, we would be more than poems
written with an unsteady heart and shaking hands.
In this life, I would be the type of man
a woman like you could love.

Here we would not dance on the tip
of a knife daring it to cut, daring it
to shred away the ugly bits.
In this world, our hands would fit together perfectly.

Know, I write these words, not in hope
that you will understand the roaring of
this fire which burns inside of me,
but in hope, you will forgive me for letting you go.

I will not say we were young and foolish
we knew where we were shooting,
but who would have guessed these arrows would
have made a home in our hearts.

And who would have guessed we would
be squeamish at the sight of blood?
Maybe though in another life
we will find redemption for our sins.

Consilium from The Outlier

(A lone voice whispers)

Have you ever encountered painful heartbreak, or are enduring, soul-destroying grief

And sometimes sit alone in the silence

Praying for any form of spiritual relief

If so, here are a few thoughts from a similar person, who's been through it all

No matter what you feel or happens today

A new dawn will still always rise again, tomorrow

A chance to knock down, any hastily built, mental walls

A chance to find a new form of freedom, to flourish

To subdue, all those painful feelings highlighted with sorrow

That no longer, nourishes

Some may say, you've just got to forget the past

Use reconciliation, beyond reason to last

But I say, do it this way

Love those even more so, who've passed away

And never again, believe in those

Who once broke, your unswaying three pillars of trust

By charging in like the doomed, British Light Brigade

With all the sad games, they once played

Leaving you standing alone
On parade,
For all to see

In depressions black dust
