"scotches" poems
evening cooled the air
before school.
a solemn thought
and what was felt,
challenged
the feats of futbol
to traversed
hop-scotches
the teacher calls:
child why have you ran there ?
"looking through
the crevices"
"playing hide and seek"
trembling with elation
- where the light
shines through
your smile
signal,
your limber hands
hope through your words
a tone of resilience
your mother once spoke.
Prince,
you are found
return now
along the port line's
seas
she sees you now

One day I shall find the man who hop scotches in my dreams
And we will be able to talk for hours about my long toes and crooked smile
And how bad his breath smells in the morning
He’ll ask me questions like which arm I like scratched the most
but at the same time
Our silence will layer the room in shades of green and brown
When he walks away, my shadow will follow him like a playful kitten
He will know just where to lay his hands, like I’m the keys of a piano
And he will play just the song I want to hear
I’ll know when I find him because he’ll ask me to come play hopscotch with him
too

sunlight tickles me in the jungle-wood
and smoking men and nice girls find me with eyes closed
i am quickly hungry and irate for blunts and breakfast
unnamed purrs drip down my throat
where the fangs sleep
slick scotches skip skillfully sharp
and beastie boys know how to kick it live

I am well grounded
My roots digging deep into wisdom
Perpetuating an inner strength
That can withstand any storm
My virtues out stretch like branches
Baring sweet nourishing fruit
Setting troubled minds at peace
Within the first bits
Come to me when
The sun scotches your calm
Find comfort in the shade of love
Let natures healing breath
Move you like the leaves
Once wrestling, now dancing in joy
Exhale the tension of insignificant conflictions
So that your transformation
might bring change to the world
