"pickering" poems
i have cake here, tony made it me,
last year he made a wooden glove box, as my red x one overflowed, the year before a tiny clothes hanger.
only yesterday i hung the knitted clothes i bought in pickering, no room for the pants, i pinned them to the wall. he is brenda’s husband.
she likes victoria sponge,
too.

If, whenever out, maybe driving about,
On encountering road-rage, never worry,
Claim that you are, Ronnie Pickering,
They should drive off, as if in a hurry.
Although, if they ask, Ronnie Pickering?
Looking bewildered, unsure who you are,
Do a convincing, Pickering impression,
An apoplectic beetroot escaping its jar.
Start ranting and raving, making threats,
No need to reveal, considered, justification,
Rage like a gargantuan, ignorant, imbecile,
Before storming off, in bitter frustration.
Remember, while out, always take care,
If encountering, squabbling or bickering,
If the people resemble blustering bullies,
One, could possibly be, Ronnie Pickering.

There are some people on this planet, that came here years ago in a space ship. They are called Pickers and they came from the planet Bnegative, in the Talkalot star system. They had to flee their planet because they had amassed a great negative attitude, which caused the planet to be swallowed by a blackhole.
You can usually avoid the Pickers if you see them in time. Here are a few examples that will help you identify Pickers. Pickers amass a great negative attitude that repels other people. For instance, if a Picker comes into a crowded room, the crowd will bunch up together like a school of fish, hoping to avoid eye contact with the Picker. Also, when Pickers find something wrong they will immediately correct you, then go on to tell you why you are wrong, when you became wrong, and what went wrong.
Pickers will pick, pick, pick, pick, pick at you until hell freezes over or the PickEs clothes catch on fire or dies. In that case the Picker will immediately find another person to complain about the cold, heat, or smell, of last said person.
There is no way to win an argument with a Picker, so it is best to nod your head in agreement until an escape route can be found. As a last resort you can grab some poor soul as they walk by and quickly introduce him to the Picker, then walk or run away, leaving the innocent bystander in your stead.
Pickers believe that if someone is wrong and they do not immediately tell that person they are wrong, the earth will then blow up.
Now, occasionally one Picker will find another Picker and start Pickering the other Picker. This usually ends in spontaneous combustion for both Pickers.
But, recently, scientist have found a planet that is suitable for humans. So pack your bags and grab your ticket to the planet Apossitive in the Farout Galaxy, where nothing is wrong and everyone is right.

Cosmo Place
The Queens Larder, Queen Square, London, listening with wonder,
A cosy little pub, lots of chat, many students, rain thrashing down, claps of thunder.
Landlady from South Africa, with a wonderful rolling accent,
Taking pride in her alehouse, a friendly pub to present
I believe she has travelled, but settled in London, now with intent,
This is my respite from the neuro-hospital, across the square, adjacent.
The kitchen had just closed, when I arrived ravenous at the bar,
the chef’s lunch shift had ended, but offered a tasty meal, Oh what a star,
Sparingly sprinkling condiments, especially with the pepper ***
disappointment, there was none, the dish fairly hit the spot,
Jazz on the speakers, relaxing with my ***
lie back in my seat; clear my head, before I have to run,
Back to the hospital, to administer to my son.
I’ll come back to this pub, to the relaxing atmosphere,
to enjoy the food on offer, and time for my head to clear,
I recommend this little haven, for travellers far and near,
Relax and sample the ambience, and leave full of cheer

Tom's
Don't
Grow on trees,
And
Don't always come to teas,
Expessely nice ones like you!
Picking
Out the right ones is hard,
Just
Like picking out cards,
I think you are nice
JUST
Like Rice.
