If I have a choice to be happy
 at every chance I get
why do I always pick to be sad?
I don't know if I want you,* he says. But I do know I don't want anyone else to have you.

It wasn't good enough, I knew that. Honestly, I did. In my mind it was crystal clear. My heart however, was having a serious case of selective hearing. All it heard was, I don't want anyone to have you. And within that---was a glimmer of hope, a spark of optimism.
Because I'm in super awe of her. And of you.
I pick dandelions
in the early spring
when I think of you
She loves me . . .

I cut the rose blooms
in the summer morn
And I am pricked
by the remembrance of you

I walk in the autumn gold
as I shuffle with the agony
of the memory
Yes I do

Now in my winter's demise
I wrap the cloth of your smile
around the cold heart's desire
that I once had for you

There will be no dandelions
this spring
No roses this summer
No leaves of autumn's color
Without the smile of you

I want to sleep.
I am very tired.
Things are blury.
I don't remember getting on the ground.
I can feel my heart beating loudly.
I blink for ten point five seconds at a time.
Where am I?

the only thing your father left you
was fourteen dollars in a coffee tin
and that crappy pick up you drive around in

you can't even bring yourself to wash the blood off the bumper
from the time he hit your dog

you wont fix the broken window
because when you drive it washes out the lingering smell of cigarettes

you leave his twangy country CD's in
and let them play as homage to him because he liked them so much

daddy isn't coming home
you know that better than anyone

but what can you do to fix a fucked up truck
when you come from a broken home

I want to find a pair of wings before I  float away
'Cause flying gives you more control so you can leave or stay
But every time I try to search I step on shallow ground
And thus the journeys I take on are all the more profound
I scribble down with shaking hands the places that I've seen
And hope that any details missed can fill the in between
I've come to know this dusty road is longer than it seems
But facts are only relative to poorly written schemes
It's only when my balance slips that I become attuned
And fully comprehend my state, to lies and death immune
Enveloped in a cloud of fog, I've made it past the shore
Of everything I left behind to float away once more

I got captivated by a smile
Almost nearly ran a mile
Falling wasn't my style
But for you, I'd sacrifice
Me, my heart and I
When you kissed me
I literally smiled
Felt like something
Was going right
In my tragic life
You picked me up
When I was about
To almost drown
In tainted love

your lips are coated in poison
(full of death)
but mine are coated in lipgloss
(full of death).
He'd rather choose the poison
then fall prey to a girl
with cherry lipstick
and a pretty face
pulling him in and never
letting him
out.
THE TELESCOPE picks off star dust
on the clean steel sky and sends it to me.

The telephone picks off my voice and
sends it cross country a thousand miles.

The eyes in my head pick off pages of
Napoleon memoirs ... a rag handler,
a head of dreams walks in a sheet of
mist ... the palace panels shut in nobodies
drinking nothings out of silver
helmets ... in the end we all come to a
rock island and the hold of the sea-walls.

Pick up truck,
Pick me up,
Two bestfriends,
And a reckless driver,
2010 hits,
Would be enough to drive away the pain,
90 miles per hour,
Race death,
I looked at her,
And she looked at me,
I screamed when I die,
This is how I want it to be.
Tonight was great
If you have to choose between me and someone else, pick them.

I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with someone who is going to question if they made the right choice or not.
So am I the right choice?

I ask what am I?

He says You are poison.

I say I know.

He says sorry if that answer was bad.

I say *No, it wasn't a bad answer. It was a real answer.
Rusty dusty pick up trucks
Old Fords and busted Chevys
Trucks that tear the road apart
And some stuck down the levy

Showing off at the truck show
All polished up and nice
When an old man in a beat up Ford
Looked us over once or twice

It don't matter how the cover looks
It's what's beneath the hood
You may look awful pretty
But, with no power...it's no good
You wanna get the ladies
Remember, it's what's beneath the hood
Although they like a real good ride
There ain't no ride, if there's no wood

I smiled and I watched the gent
Walk and laugh and smile some
He'd mumble something to the girls
And they'd follow to where he'd come

His truck, was old and battered
Wasn't tricked out like the rest
But, when it came to having girls around
This old man was the best

It don't matter how the cover looks
It's what's beneath the hood
You may look awful pretty
But, with no power...it's no good
You wanna get the ladies
Remember, it's what's beneath the hood
Although they like a real good ride
There ain't no ride, if there's no wood

A truck may last a long long time
But you've got to use it right
You've got to check the engine
And try to run it every night

I remember what the old man said
It's about what's there beneath the hood
The girls don't want it pretty
The girls, they want it good.....

It don't matter how the cover looks
It's what's beneath the hood
You may look awful pretty
But, with no power...it's no good
You wanna get the ladies
Remember, it's what's beneath the hood
Although they like a real good ride
There ain't no ride, if there's no wood
