Project Roomkey [1] is a federally (FEMA) funded homeless relief initiative in the state of California. The program was launched in April 2020.[2]

The project was expected to end in late 2020, as it was initially intended to help homeless people socially distance during the peak of the pandemic. However for a time it was continued and was expanded[3] in March 2021 with the Los Angeles City Council approving a measure that would allow the city to compel hotel owners to participate in the program even if they did not want to.

National publications such as Newsweek have noted that the program is reserved for homeless individuals aged 65 or older or who have an underlying medical condition.[4] As of March 22, 2021, LA County had counted 48,038 unsheltered people, 15,000 rooms promised, 2,261 rooms under contract, 2,261 rooms operational and 1,724 rooms occupied. By these numbers, 28% of the operational

Dolphins and orcas have reached a critical point in their evolution, forever locking them into the ocean. New research reveals how these marine mammals have adapted in ways that make a return to land impossible

Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, the study scrutinized over 5,600 mammal species to understand how dolphins and orcas evolved from semi-aquatic ancestors to fully marine life forms. The research, led by Bruna Farina, a PhD candidate at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, concludes that the

For one
It went like this

Backpack
My entire life
is in a backpack
because even if where we stay isn't the same
as the day before,
at least the stuff I carry
in this backpack
is the same stuff every day

Now I've been past when they take the backpack

Now what
I live
In america

Who took that ***** home?

I arrest myself
I lock the joint down
It's my continent now
Best live some Irish or pay the ultimate price

Welcome to New York
I can and will mobilize on the disobedient

In and out of prison
I can destabilize
Flank
Filet a tree
And bank a *****
Reform ranks
Covert brush
De vert shanks

I know people are misplaced
Out there
In a street
In a safe space
There's not much freedom day to day
That's why I worked my way through the paper
To find no difference
Is to be at peace
It might not accept my offer to pay for us all
It might only accept itself is worth money
But my letters will reach someone
Eventually

Souls gave us asylum
Money gave them pride

These are civil rights violations
That's a shameful realization for proud people

When a man
Come through
The dried up wells
For you

Come through and
Try me out on the loan buy a ya a ya buy a ya
There's no shame in time
You won't have to call a loan
Again

When a man
Come through
The dried up wells
For you

Won't you leave it all
Behind
Try me out on the phone
Never make you pay more
Than a hearts willing
To beat

There's no shame in calling a loan
Before you think of home
Never leave the wells dry
Of goodbyes
Won't you forget all the lies

Tape me on the side
In eyes, cry, never gonna be, alright
