It happened just a minute ago and maybe a light year away
Then again I’m a lil drunk so it might’ve been yesterday

I could’ve sworn or so I thought that I saw your shadow there
I’m not going to say it startled me, just caught me unaware

So I threw a rope around the sun and tied it to the mountains
It’s light fell upon the jagged cliffs and splashed amidst the fountains

Your shadow sat and stayed with me while the world got lost again
We talked of our ideas on things and what could be come when

The stars demanded I free the sun and set her on her way
This means your shadow will have to go so they can have their day

I bid your shadow a fond farewell and turn back towards the moon
I take the rope from around the sun and tell it to come back soon

I’d write you a poem but my hands are too cold
There’s little light where I am
And my will is growing old

I’d say the last time I saw you, under an electric moon
Was the last time I felt warm
And you took that warmth too soon

Bast and I still speak of you, over fires and amber soaked rocks
That smile that lit a world
My sadness that memory mocks

I have no one to send this to, no one I’d expect cares
Perhaps one day you’ll read this
And see I’m always there

We could say we’re here and there when we are not together.
On each other's minds regardless of the whether.
We should be side by side or a thousand miles apart.
If ever I should need you, I need only touch my heart.

Lingering Lyrics

   As another dawn approaches
And the Sun kisses the sky
Nature is waking up and in lingering lyrics
In my head I hear a dog and a butterfly

When I was younger music was everything
Now when I listen, it takes me back in time
I still love listening and I savor all the
Songs of remembered rhyme

There’s too many to mention here and
I wouldn’t want to favor one over another
But I’m sure you know the ones I’m
Talking about like Sylvia’s Mother

The songs you don’t have to hear
But in your mind they’re as clear as day
Like American pie and who’ll stop the
Rain and let’s not forget Maggie May

Oh I could go on and on listing them
Especially if I mentioned songs by KISS
But this isn’t about that and besides
There’s still so many songs that I’d miss

And even if they were political like
Ohio and they remind us of violence
They are still songs we’ll never forget
Songs with substance like Sound of Silence

And as always there’s Hotel California
And I know our opinions will always vary
We all have songs we choose for our best
For some it’s Manic Monday or Voice’s carry

And believe it or not I like them too so let
Those speakers crackle with atmospherics
And crank up the music and enjoy all
Of those songs with Lingering Lyrics

God..what you still do to me
When will I just move on, already?
Why can't I just breathe?
And why is my heart so unsteady?

It leaps like a rabbit when you appear
And my mind races just like a gazelle
I turn into an animal when you're near
A creature of prey, under a predator's spell

Though I'm not sure if it's fear that I feel
But whether I'm angry, scared, or just anxious as hell
It's clear to me you've left wounds that won't heal
It seems my past just can't say it's farewell

But I will keep dragging myself away from you
Leaving this trail of blood behind
I will survive the pain I went through
Time for this prey to put you out of her mind

Yes, this little thing still goes on
Though your teeth have torn and shredded her
She'll live through what she's undergone
And maybe, just maybe, outrun this predator
