Pillow stuffed with worries
Never losing consciousness
The poke of the pea
jabbing into dawn
Mattress full of sorries
Void of blankets
Warmth no more

When proofreading
the print upon the
milky white pages
of my story,
you appear often,
circled in red

Snowshoeing in heavy rains
ground beneath is slush
Picnic peanut butter sandwiches
beside the water's rush
Resting on a hill
take a deep breath in
Narada Falls keeps flowing
as a gentle snow fall sets in

Please stop talking like me
I don't sound good
coming from you

Where was I then?

Always,
not where I should've been

Maybe entangled in some other project or endeavor?

Not there yet?

still, not there

Regret was always there though. Hiding in the shadows of my genome like a cancer

Flaring up like an infection
reminding me that until
I am, "there"
I am not worthy of  happiness,
"here"

She is panning for forgiveness
through the darkest sands of time
minerals from charred bone
fill the silt, left far behind
Remnants of tarnished memories
let guilt fossilize the years
how she longs to melt those frozen crystals, back into her own tears

Cry for the silence
Cry for the screams
Cry for the freedom
that forgiveness finds
in dreams

inhale
open road horizon
breath taking
breaking her eyes in
a new day
pierces upon a sharp bed
of emerald blades
bleeding into a scorching yellow,
orange blaze
only their skies

like licorice twists
wrap around my
tongue
Couldn't let on
how I felt about you,

Pretty shimmer blues

and teasing light

Like a falling star
you fell out of the sky
you hit the ground
but kept on falling,
falling and falling
How many times
have I dug you up?
Lent you a helping hand?
Now you've pulled me in with you
deeper, deeper and deeper
Rolling in the mud

Following behind a
trail of fallen stars
within our shrinking
hemisphere

Be careful
not to fall
for her
tricky ways
she confuses
and keeps you
wandering deep
in her convoluted
maze
She is dark
You never know
what she wants
nor does she
she is fluid
she just likes to see
you squirm
She is jealous
there is nobody better than her
or else
She is cold
She twists words
into sour lemons
makes you question yourself
wondering who you are
in her convoluted maze
The trick is to know
you will never please her
so if she invites you
into her silly labyrinth
respectfully decline

SWIFTLY
ripping
open
the
wrapping
to behold
your
convoluted
soul

Don't shut the sink
off yet,
there's a lot more dishes
to do!

A desire for security
unleashed an imminent threat
A quest for good fortune
spiraled down a hole of debt
There's nothing quick about
