He was a drug
delivered
right into my needy
arms
while you were looking
the other

joined by an imaginary sinew,
four walls featuring dust
compressed into sheet rock

face away from one another.

smooth within and
on the outside,
brick

like so many houses in
this neighborhood–

everyone is insulated from the
empty stares over so much
strewn building material

yet —somehow—we are
protected from the rain

the oldest wall
no longer
stands

the others slowly
fracture

my wall—

shedding tears like
tiny shells piling
upon a beach

breaks with the
waves into
shards of sand—

leaving ashes
and
               dust...

I wonder how many people I’ve hurt.

Heavenly Father, in this beautiful morning I am so thankful that You are able and often do make impossible situations possible. In this beautiful morning I like to ask for forgiveness for the seemingly limitless capacity I have to be foolish. Heavenly Father, please help us live our lives with loving intent, cultivating meaningful relationships with our families, friends, and even our brothers and sisters we’ll never engage in our lifetime. Heavenly Father please teach me in your wisdom,so that my life might be pleasing to You and a blessing to others around me....In Your name I am strong, fearless and blissful. In your name Jesus Christ, I’ll continue to pray… Amen!

After
a series of binges,
self awareness
chased
the nightmare
into
a dream of
recovery

The evening rush
packs up daylight,
inside a suitcase
bound for stars....
Beads of heavy haze
swallow lights
of the vineyard
Flying within a
seamless horizon,
Atlantic's blackness
seals the night
Love's blindness,
love's chaos
dissolve into
the
nautical twilight

Sometimes,
I catch
myself Swaying,
like there is
an eternal metronome
that my spirit
hears.
Or,
A song that my
soul must keep
time with.
It beats to the art
that surrounds me.

Such a delicate balance,
between the cactus and
the sun.
Between the dog and
the bone.

When they autopsied the
Tin Man, there were
irises and orchids and
Neruda poems where
his heart should have
been.

Love is an overused
word,
but an underused
gift.
