Alone again:
here even silence fights,
spinning air,
dunnnn of single light,

Bird outside:
Calling me for...
News:
my bottomless appetite
Cities shut quiet
Empty lots and oh...
numbers delight!
4 percent, 8 percent
drop
a thousand more died.

On and on
On and on
till...

Listen:
fan, light and tree rustle
Close your eyes
see the point?
A grey blue dot
article bright

Yes

burning black hole
but shrinking against white
yes, yes, yes

See it shrinking
Shrinking
And shrinking
Till it melts into light.

Right
Now write.
A blank page to begin again
This time...
Let's do it right.

I found something not from here
outside a home, sitting alone
a hard body, smooth surface
shaped perhaps, by forces severe
a volcano, a glacier.

I picked it up for a while
heard its tale, a lively life
...
you look old, spent and done
are you just resting here,
or have you retired?

We spoke some more, shared our woes
till twas time to let it go
in a private spot, by the lake
open skies, no one in sight.

You say your man is great
that he can build a bed
from a bark

You say your man can cook
blanch, broil, braise and clarify
a dish wonderful

You say your man can love
in sixty eight positions
of the ******* Kamasutra

You say your man is fit
runs a marathon, half marathon
cyclathon and once
swam across the Atlantic

He sounds great my love
a perfect catch
then why do you
still hold my hand?

How did you end up with the bad news
why are you the one asked to die
why not that guy...
the one too fat to fit in his car
or that one
who loves just his phone

You, who loved the world
who found joy in new bloom
who waited for the monsoon
why have you...
been asked to exit stage left

you are beauty we need
and yet you are all packed up
who will find us a birdsong
or count the stars again

perhaps this is how a play ends
or this is how the lights go out.
