 Aug 2014 The Unbeliever
Jack
~

Sultry this morning with temperatures rising
Nary a breeze whispers soft, ever slow
Tempting the flavor of love as I taste you
Drenched in your essence, above and below
~
Softly you sigh as my mouth finds your nectar
Coating my lips now a glisten with sheen
Maundering tender this garden of longing
Caressing the petals so moist in between
~
There in your eyes as if heaven is pleading
High over head rests a smile now endless
Thighs at my neck of a satin-like feeling
Hands follow curves as they wander so free
~
Clutching my hair with the passion of sunrise
Fragrance alluring of fresh dawning dew
Willows still weep as I’m drawn ever deeper
Consuming the fruits ripened sweet of the view
~
Moans seem to echo as breaths leave me falling
Lost in the ecstasy found in a dream
Calling my name in a desperate fashion
Little temptations now lead to a scream
~
Warm flowing syrup of a maple trees blushing
Pouring of love ever pure from the vine
Fill me with you as my hunger is needing
Every ounce of this moment divine
~
"Oh, come away with me
to a land where you'll be free;
a place where all can achieve
if you only just believe.

Follow me, my friend,
take this journey to the end.
Take my hand and you will see
just how much you mean to me.

As its beauty you inhale, you'll
not desire to go back,
to that place of woe from whence
you came,
a place riddled by such lack.

So take my hand and soon you'll be
in a picturesque land of great jubilee,
where there's never need to beg
or borrow,
and no one ever worries
for tomorrow."

Said the spider to the fly
just before its time to die....

Don't judge a book by its cover, or charming ways.
Ancient tree, with roots deep down
Standing ground for ages unknown
Gentle giant soaring over undergrowth
Lonely, it stood there as part of history
It’s foliage glistening from fresh showers
Standing there alone without any remorse
The mossy green sheath on the tree trunk
Finding solitary refuge in the calmness
The sleepy rocks beneath, there for company
Lifeless surface comes alive with lichens
Lonely tree, standing there happy, for ages
Spreading its branches and nurturing life
The howling storm
Tore across the lovely rose petals
Only thorns remain

I thought I should post this in response to my own challenge and at the same time thank all of you who responded and commented. This short piece is slightly different

The trees stand stark and bare 'gainst winters lead grey sky
The snow lays cold and deep and the earth asleep doth lie
No small birds sing, no little things move across the land
The earth in hibernation, a long sleep, as winter makes her stand
I wake once more in early dawn and warmth has come once more
A small bird sings, a green leaf springs from natures open door
Once again the land awakes and life begins anew
And the bitter cold of winter has vanished like the dew
I suspect...
the lights burned out
long ago,
the heart stopped
beating,
the lips stopped
parting to speak,
the hands stood
still,
as the mind
wandered.
I suspected...
though you lacked
courage to tell.
The irony is, your
grandest display
of disgrace
delivered me my
greatest liberation,
for the gloves
have come off,
the masks have
fallen,
the lies have
ceased, and I
can finally clearly
see what truly
lives...
behind your eyes.
