dear beloved
the seasons come and go
but you remain

you have cast
a dark existence upon me
for what you took, that was for keeps

white mountain tops
have turned rivers
brown leaves have disrobed maple trees

newborn fawn have opened eyes
and fresh green carpet
has covered the forest floors

three times I've seen
the flock's migrations
since you cast the spell

for that long ago
you took it all away
and it was for keeps

the seasons come and go
but you remain

I don’t know what hurt worse,
The tick-tock
And clock in all –

Or the waiting,
Just one more second,
The wanting,
One last second
And be ******
The wine stained sand
And buzzards atop ear;

Always to remind of how I’d
Loved and ultimately
Failed.
Thrice a desert; imagined, the oasis
