Through so many years I ran
Afraid and ever cowering
The darkness always at my back
Voracious, all-devouring

Through my mind its black claws reached
And picked apart my sanity
They scraped all chance of joy away
With endless inhumanity

Through the days and months and years
it chased and clawed relentlessly
Eventually I wondered why
I ran unending breathlessly

Through the dark I turned and looked
Pursuit suspended nervously
I granted it a name and face
It glared with vicious fervency

Through its threat I held my gaze
And ventured forth an inquiry
Its flare of rage could not repress
My newfound curiosity

Through the long nights we conversed
Debating, chatting, bickering
The darkness that devoured my life
Shrank back, diminished, flickering

Through the darkness I now saw
With unexpected clarity
We spoke as friends, no longer foes
Embracing newfound parity

Through the dark I look, and laugh
My friend now laughs along with me
Despite how it had always seemed
The darkness is a part of me

isn't it ironic
how everything
that has saved you
has left you
bawling on the floor
of your bedroom
with the door
barricaded shut,
thinking nothing but
horrible thoughts.

She's right -
I'm trying to fix you,
But you're broken beyond repair.
That doesn't stop me trying
To glue together your shattered heart,
 with my love.
Though, sometimes, it may seem as if my love is temporary and that's why the cracks bleed
Of your insecurities;
And once again your heart shatters
Scattering my love with your broken dreams
And once again I'll pick up the pieces and build up your heart again -
With my love and utter devotion.

Anxiously waiting until it breaks again...

Wrote this earlier today - it's about picking up the pieces and helping to put them into place again - for that special person.

From the beach my group departs for a deep sea fishing excursion
Huddled in a fiberglass vessel known as the Barracuda
Captain Alberto is a burly man with dark skin and a silver tooth
Operating the motor is his young apprentice and amigo
The captain has his children’s names painted on the hull
One of them, Estrella, rings out in my mind
The boat rocks me nearly nauseous in the bobbing motions
My excitement builds as I photograph a variety of species
Fish would breach the surface, birds would swoop and dive
I even saw a whale
Distinguishable by tail
We slowed down for a better look at century-old tortugas
Circled round a mating pair, voyeurs to procreation
An engine boom and acceleration meant there was a bite
Alberto took the rod yet handed it to my party
The Mahi-Mahi swam and pulled with all its mortal strength
Its yellowish body shining and shimmering while it leapt
Our captain unsheathed an instrument for pulling the fish aboard
A candy cane shaped hook with a fine blade ending the curve
Impaled the marine dweller, pinned his body to the deck
It flopped about violently seeming to spill blood by the gallon
I found the creature’s face to be both hideous and handsome
A long bony bridge protruded from its forehead
Here, Alberto beat the beast to death with a wooden bat
It died with dignity
Fed a family
I thank the sea
For this gift

Where everything is Spring
And leaves are turning green
Secret gardens begin to bloom
Their scent mingling with that of distant rain
Where everything is pure sunshine
And their rays slant through the forest trees
And pour across my woodland path
I walk hand and hand with those rays
As they shine full fledge into my face
My forest path begins to end
And there is an opening in the forest
Leading me to a quiet, peaceful meadow
Where the flowers forever grow
They never wither, but take their growth
From the mighty hand of God
In the wind and rain
Sweet bluebirds and cardinals
Sing upon the boughs of the pine trees
Swaying in the wind
Morning glories bloom
And honeysuckles climb
And spiral and wrap their vines
Around the majestic trunks of the white oak
A little pond cascades and flows
Blue-greenish water gurgles and bubbles
Singing some sweet song
An anthem of glory
Where everything is Spring
Lemonade in hand
I half sit, half lay
On the grassy bank
Beside the garden pond
And read my book
A pitcher of mint or lemon iced-tea
Paints my harmony
Of life in bloom
Where everything is Spring

Dew Glistens On Flowers
Birds Of Sweet Repose
Chirp And Warble
Their Morning Song
The Eastern Sun
Shines Brightly Through
The Tall Towering Furs And Pines
The Rain-Washed Grass
With Last Night's Rain
Glistens And Sparkles
Like A Dazzling Spray
Of Jewels Flung Across
An Ocean Of Green
The Sunshine Dances
And The Song Of A Million Harps
And Cellos
Violas And Violins
Resound And Echo
Through The Pine-Scented Air
'Tis A Morning Song
Composed By Me

The path of healing is there for us all
It is there for even the most saddest of souls
With God walking by your side
There is nothing to fear
On the path of healing
Iris scented breezes
Waft through this forest path
The sunshine in calm rays
Dews sparkle on tender grasses
And rain has washed delicate leaves
Ferns delicately dance in the cool breezes
That blow through the warm air
The path of healing is very beautiful and comforting
Even through the hardest and saddest of times
When your heart is raw and needs healing
With God leading the way, right by your side
Don't you know, my precious one, that there is nothing to fear?
I am here too, I am God's humble servant
He is my Best Friend and Comforter
And He is yours too, if you allow Him to be, dear one
The path of healing is so beautiful
With green mosses and tulips
Kissed by a mist of dew
Tall, tall trees are growing
On either side of the path of healing
Everything is so peaceful, calm, and tranquil
But it is God's Presence along by your side
That causes your sweet and gentle heart to heal
Maybe you will comfort in my words hear, dear child
If so, then, my precious one,
Don't thank me, thank God
For He is ever knocking
On your beautiful, broken heart
And if you will allow Him
He will enter and softly heal your heart
And that is what the path of healing is all about
Not just ferns washed in dazzling spray
It is the One who created those ferns
He is the path of healing
For if you will allow Him to enter
He will heal even the most broken of hearts
And I know if you ask Him to save you
And truly wish to be His Child
Then, my sweet one, He will heal your heart
And that is how healing begins
Only through God
For He is our path of healing

What You Get Instead

Sometimes what you ask for
Is not exactly what you get
And the thing that you need the most
Is what you get instead

You may think that you're not lucky
Nothing ever goes your way
But if you see a different side
Your life begins to change

When you see a different side
Have a different point of view
Thats when it seems to all work out
And life is good to you

There comes a time in your life
When you reach a certain  age
And all the things that you want
They all begin to change

Sometimes what you ask for
Is not exactly what you get
And the thing that you need the most
Is what you get instead
