with instinctive
eye she finds
the hollow of the tree,
a place in magic steeped;
and with reach of heart
she lifts out
the stuff of sleepy dreams -
a rainbow-riding unicorn,
an elven-speaking gnome,
an angel in a hurricane.
each speaks to her in tone,
and though each is but a wisp
of what she’s dreamed and wished,
yet each is emblemic,
wholly authentic,
in thought is cathartic
and in mem’ry angelic.
for written words
are the whispers
that speak in the dark;
and poetry the blade
that tears open the heart;
but dreams...
these come from places
held deeply within,
from childhood fantasy
blended with memory;
these are hope’s grief,
tomorrow’s pain,
for answers through loss,
her innermost cry;
her soul searching again,
for it is she that we hear
weeping at night.

*post script.

blended thoughts inspired by two grieving mothers -
one’s post of a tree hollow discovered and
another's weeping as she packs up Christmas,
while listening to her lost son’s music.

wishing them each peace, answers that satisfy and... sleep.

I could sit here and write you a thousand poems
Millions of letters thrown across a page
In attempts for you to understand
That I'm truly and undoubtedly
In love with you.
And I know with all my heart
That you love her.
It kills me inside to listen
You trip up on your words with laughter
Because just thinking about her
Causes you to lose yourself in thought.
You scrunch up your nose a little
And a smile toys at the edge of your mouth
As your fingers twist at your clothes or hair
Usually you sigh slightly leaning forward looking off
And I watch you fall for her more and more each day.
You're beautiful when you're in love.
I just wish you had worn that dress for me to admire
Maybe then I wouldn't feel so bad about doing it anyways.

A thousand miles wide
The storm it is landside
Takes all the trees that were going to die
The cargo floods the highways
A pier ride in the ocean
Fifty-five hundred sheltered, safe and sound
Over 6 million people without power
Did they ever really have the power
Not like Sandy
Such devastation
The govenor needs a vacation
Again

Fluorescent lighting
Burning into my corneas
Déjà vu strikes again
Heart under feet
Mind on my sleeve
I miss you

Place me inside
Four sides all equal in size
Stare at me
Under the starry skies
On display for only you to see
Where strange, captive animals can never be free.
