Favorite Paradox
Simrah Rehan Dec 2014
I wish

I wish I knew the old just like the new

Helping me mark the difference in colors

Of a painted disaster

Because the incomplete sketches

Spread across time make me

Dream

I dream of falling off the edge

Knowing it will only lead to

Madness

And madness is remedy

For sanity is

Lethal

Lethal is monotony

Gradually crumbling into

Ordinary

Ordinary is choosing to look away

From the display of

Sparkle

Sparkle moulding up souls of the illimitable

Walking on the other side of

Fear

Fear shies in the face of the limitless,

What a thing it is to

Embrace

Embracing the uneasy comfort

Constituting your Favorite Paradox

Of whose absence makes you love

But presence makes you hate

Everything

Everything is an illusion

And you’re constantly creating your own

Infinities.

In Insanity You Indulge
Simrah Rehan Nov 2014
All that glitters is not gold
At some point we have all been told.
What makes you, what defines you
Is what you choose.

You lose yourself before you find yourself,
You shatter before you see what you’re made up of;
You burn before you shine,
You fall apart before you combine.

You’re ignored until you’re heard,
You’re hurt until you’re healed;
All those secrets within you, you seal
Because you’re not yet ready to feel.

In madness you find sanity,
In rock bottom you find high;
Along blurred lines you find clarity,
You begin to wonder why you try.

You’re sure what you feel,
In insanity you indulge;
You’re not sure what you grieve,
But in fate you believe.

You hit to bounce back,
You fall, you relapse.
You fail to succeed,
You live, you learn;
You try till you die,
You cry, you fight.

Thirty Days of One Second
Simrah Rehan Nov 2014
How much time is 'enough time'?
Which answer is the correct one?
Is this lie more convincing,
Or is this truth the most deceiving?

Day One

Is what you know
Really what you believe,
Or do you feed your pain
With fabricated reality?

As though you set water on fire
Like a burning desire to scream,
Scream out to the stars
Patterning your structured time.

Day Fifteen

Is what you hear
Really what you listen,
Or do you ease your soul
With altered versions?

A bubble of Denial
Safeguarding broken hope,
Protecting the One Second
That lingers until today

Day Thirty

Is what you want
Really what you need,
Or do you earn smiles
With your own idea of ecstasy?

When truth catches up
And One Second is over;
You find reality pushing you
Far beyond horizons,
Into fantasy-
A land known as Freedom.

Familiar Stranger
Simrah Rehan Oct 2014
One, two, three, persist.

Spin, spin, spin, retain;

Under our spotlight of Exception,

A standstill of colors occurred-

So vivid, it was almost blinding.

Amidst the hollowness

Seeped a shadow,

Reaching out to every

Memory locked away.

Familiar Stranger.

Tracing lines of comfort,

Running down heaven,

Dropping weight on unknown territory;

An interminable candle is lit.

A leap of faith.

A thread connected two points-

One side smiled, the other feared;

Two paths were walked on-

Only to become the beauty they call Sunset,

Or  the terror they call Tremor.

Collision, destruction.

Fear enveloping, merging into darkness;

Silent night screaming, absorbing the emptiness;

Finding tranquility in expression

And freedom in escapade.

The thread is broken.

Search for ignition,

The stars have only just begun to shine;

Search for boundlessness

Sedating every boiling point,

Aggravating every sparkle,

Immortalizing intervals.

Transience is defeated.
