Ramadan
Simpleton Jun 2014
Come forward Ramadan
I await your arrival
The hearts are ill
And they need to be cured

Come and spread your joy
Of double rewards
As heavens doors open
And prayers are answered

Show me all I have to be thankful for
And help me think of the needy
Those who go without food or water for days
And yet still how my Lord provides

Come and show me
When Satan is locked away
Am I being tempted
Or are these sins force of habit

Ramadan come
And remind us of our purpose
Surround us with a humble atmosphere
Where brothers and sisters unite

Dawn till dusk
I will not simply starve
But be on my best behaviour
No foul language or thinking the worst of someone

I will join the congregation
At each and every prayer
Speak kindly
And spend more time with my family

In the month of God's mercy
I will try my best to please
Become a better person
And carry through these deeds
Ramadan: An entire month of fasting, without any food or water from dawn till dusk. The aim is not to simply starve yourself but to think of those more needy than you. Humble yourself, correct wrongs and become closer to God. The best way I can describe it is that it's like a therapeutic spiritual detox :)

City vs Countryside
Simpleton Dec 2013
They say that the cities
Are paved with gold
That this is the land
Where dreams are made true

I'll tell you its where they are sold
Only the ruthless can afford
To rise to the top
The cities are nothing but cold

Homeless in doorways
And beggars on corners
A meagre minimum wage income
A damp house to welcome

Indirect subtle insults
Discrimination and accusation
Faulted into submission
One size fits all

Well it better fit you
Or you're just another number
Database, forms and paperwork
Lost in the system

Nine to five
Or the underworld shift
Borrow from Peter to give to Paul
Man made traps

Crime is always at an all time high
Theft, ****, fraud, ******
Delinquency
Occurring frequently

I read the news
And it starts my day off miserably
Concrete jungle
Where have you gone simple things

If you have a minute
Tell me about the other side
The place I want to go
Acres of playground fun

I want to hear about the trees
The earth beneath your feet
Do you sit by the river
And feel complete

Fantasy
Simpleton May 2013
I believe that fairy tales are just that: fairy tales.
Magic doesn't exist, and of course imagination is just that: imagination.

Something not real, an internalised, idealised creation.
Happy ever afters,
and Prince Charming hero's,
are just a lovers fantasy notions.

But we are there,
You know,
at that stage where Romeo is madly in love with...Rosaline.

Those evil family relations surround us and a wicked stepmother who overrules.
Girls everywhere are obsessed with being the fairest of them all,
Eagerly anticipating a dark and handsome: Mr. Tall.

Waiting on that fairy godmother to appear,
but its already too late because the wolfs already had his dinner,
and a sleeping beauty has yet to be kissed out of her nightmare.

Spriralling down profanity
Standing on the cliff of blasphemy
She looked for angels inside of demons
Where God's decree was nowhere to be found
She had faith in what she saw
Preachers and believers
Insolence and deciept
Their words of judgement reaching out to cage her in
Threatening punishment
Imploring her to forgiveness
God, there is sacrilege
This world is rampant with hypocrites
Her heart is full of your love
Yet desires the forbidden
The unsanctioned
It harms not a soul, not even her own
But holds her happiness down the one path
That strays just a little from the rules
God, who loves the impious preachers and believers
The patient and forgiving
Can these two paths not become one?
Where the blood in her veins runs by His decree
Every breath she takes is with His grace

Once I went to a place
Where the sky was azure
And the water a turquoise jewel
Botanical trees so lush and green
A calming breeze soothed across the skin
Like a blanket of peace
And I wondered if this is on Earth
A landscape of this world
Then what must paradise be like?
It is said to be beyond what anyone can imagine
Dear Almighty
Let heaven not forsake me
Let it not forbid me
Nor spit me out
Reject me after the trials of my life are over
Let me not reach the end of this tunnel
To never enter the light
It is You who knows best my Lord
For if heaven was easy to enter
There would be littered bodies
Of willing sacrifice
To sit along the rivers of wine
And enjoy eternal youth and beauty
Where there is no thirst nor hunger
To be amongst the company of Angels
And the best of nations, tribes, people and tongues
Standing before Thy throne
Where Messiahs have awaited
Enjoying eternal salvation

I see humans but no humanity
I see a society but no unity
Happiness comes from within
But we all seem to forget

Ignorant, naïve
And judging from incompetence
Fighting for peace
Not respecting history

Searching for truth
But you've lost your way
No more believers
Forgotten how we got here

Looking for freedom
But support the oppressor
Don't accept responsibility
And hope you don't get caught

Because you're not really breaking the law
Your conscience is poisonous
Apparently your doing things the right way
Children are dying from illness
But we're complaining about immigrants

Stop following public opinion
And separating nations
Just because you're not blind
It doesn't mean you can see

Teach your future generation
Less clothes equals beautiful
And white equals superior
Money equals power

Divide between the lesser who are  inferior
***** hatred and say its dutiful
Who are you trying to fool
We're dropping like flies

She killed herself because of cyber bullying
And he's tired of acting strong
Fearing to cry and be ******
Abuse, neglect and poverty

Increasing frequently
Morality crisis
Blame the youth and teenage pregnancies
To combat it a genius says let's teach them whilst they're younger

Sounds good right?
What about censorship
Safety and protection
Young minds are susceptible

Ignore the practice and theories
Pride doesn't let you back down
Blame the rap and rock music
Its preaches violence and hatred

Rebel riots and corruption
East and west its affected us both
Greedy bankers
And terrorists or freedom fighters

A time of lost trust
And each to their own
Independent battles
No one is connecting the dots

Its like global dominoes
Inter connected problems
One leads to another
And the root cause is lost

What did you do?
Simpleton Jul 2014
A day will certainly come
As sure as we breathe
When our creator will ask of us
What we did to aid the oppressed

On that day
As surely as who created you
Created me too
It will not be about religion but humanity

When carefully planned and organised jets
Launched rockets
To bomb populated refugee camps
Schools and apartment blocks

At a defenceless opposition
Without an air force or navy
Heavy weapons or artillery
Command or armour

That's not war
It's ******
It's cold blooded massacre

As a woman shot in the stomach
Gives birth to a cold blue baby
And a world across oceans changes channels tuning in to the next world cup champion

It was never about taking sides
Israel vs Palestine
There is a truth
To which we must remove the blindfold of ignorance

Searching for a voice of right
Amongst the cries of pain hatred and anger
The sign in a city
Where there is too much to see

Finding peace amongst people who are not ours
Because I see hypocrisy of nations
Who stand for human rights
But only when the human shares a matching ideology

I see hypocrisy amongst media
Where a million wounds and shades of blood
Are inked into black and white letters
Today I read 'An Israelian was killed whilst a dozen Palestinians died'

They turned humans into numbers
Quantitative data
They couldn't possibly de-sensitize it any further
I mean look at the verbs in which they phrased that

I see hypocrisy amongst Muslims
Who stand equal and united
Yet they too turn backs when the interest is not beneficial
And the pitiful nation falls divided

Whether it is a prayer
A strike, a boycott or vigil
A protest or petition
Maybe even a donation

There's a thousand ways to help
But very few who do
So what did you do?
Was it out of sight out of mind for you?

I am ashamed, Sister!

I live in a house, I want to renovate.
Yours was bulldozed, now you live in a tent.

I need a new car, trade the old one away.
You lost your feet in a bombing yesterday.

I sleep so cozy and warm in a king size bed.
You find comfort in the cold hard floor instead.

Something doesn't work out I'll complain to everyone.
While you hide your tears when you lose someone.

My freezer is full with samosas and pies.
Your tummy sounds are muffled by rockets and cries.

I open my fast with plenty food in my plate.
You are thankful for that single date.

I do some chores my back is sore.
You lost your sons your pain is much more.

My Eid clothes are bought, few hundreds gone.
You were forced to leave with the clothes you had on.

I need a few holidays throughout the year.
You won't abandon your land despite the fear.

I have everything yet I still want more.
You just want peace, the end of this war.

Despite all this you are closer to Allah then I'll ever be.
So I am ashamed sister, ashamed for being me!
This work is not one of mine. Unfortunately I do not know who the original author is.

In the twenty first century
Where we have been the most advanced we have ever been
Where we have central heating
Air conditioning
Online shopping
Open heart
And laser eye surgery
Never has the goal of a happy and pleasant life drifted further away
Than it has today
We have been taught how to fly high in the sky like a plane
How to dive deep in the ocean like a fish
But how to walk on this earth
As a happy and content being
Some of us, we still struggle
We can contact people on the other side of the world
But we can't connect with our soul
We search for peace
Swallowing pills to seal the cracks in our heart
To cover fear, loneliness and anxiety
Oh you who wander
Life is a drink of salty water
You are drinking for a thirst that never quenches
A hunger that never fills
On this path
Pain becomes unbearable
Calamities become intolerable
A search for peace of mind
The ability to sleep at night
Your chest will only become tighter
The dark will become darker
Until you realise
That the pieces of our heart can only be put together
When we have gratitude during times of ease
And patience during times of difficulty

Miracles

So many look at life from the outside
And all the troubles that are wrought
Only seeing it in problems
Never focusing on God

But what I see are the miracles
That come in oh so clear
And number one on that list
Is the miracle we're still here

Everyone has a guardian angel
Looking out for you
Someone's prayers touched the heavens
Someone truly loves you

When the impossible is made possible
And hope comes out of the hopeless
A barren land bears fruit
And the bitter is made sweet

And it's a sweetness you can taste
As the miracles abound
Pouring blessings down from the heavens
Onto man's fertile ground

Horrible endings that brought new starts
The medical that came back clear
Tears of misery that end in laughs
Having all your family near

So count all of your blessings
Not your lucky stars
Because everyday in every way
These are miracles from God

Authorities don't know he existed
He cried and your head hurt
Maybe you're mad
You were meant to protect him
Like any mother with a newborn
Its like he wasn't yours
But when she cried
Your heart hurt
Ran your hand across his cheeks
Pressed your palm on his lips
Conceived in hate
Made him feel less than
And today he should have been
4 years old
Not a rotting corpse
I wish I could take his pain
And dissolve it
What if somebody noticed?
The cuts on your arms
Constant tugging down
Long sleeved tops
And the prescriptions
That you weren't fit
Mental illness
What if the health officials
Did their job properly
Visited your house
And gave him safety
Policies and practices
Intervention and prevention
Something should have been done
Somewhere
Something
Someone
Went wrong

When you arrive
Simpleton Jun 2017
I wonder where I'll be when you come for me
Will you steal me away in the dead of the night
Or will you send me a message before you arrive
Will there ever be a right time
Or would I embrace you like I've been waiting for this moment my whole life

Will I get a chance to say goodbye
Would it be rushed with loud cries
Or would I leave with a life fulfilled
In the arms of my love
And a smile on my face

I wonder if it would be painful
Sudden in the breeze on the concrete outside
The distant sound of sirens lulling me away
Or patiently savouring me slowly from the inside
One ***** at a time
A pinch of clips on my fingers, my heart beeping me out

Would it be panicked and rushed
Would I try to escape and run
Desperate to evade your advances
Then hopelessly succumb

Would I remember God
Would I call for him in that moment
Would I ask Him to save me
Or let you take me
So He can keep me safely in his gardens

I'd like to think I won't be afraid
I've always known it would happen
Yet I can feel fear choking me at just the thought
But if that's of the process or the destination
I guess I'll have to wait
Until it's my time to go

My grandad
He parts wise words
He tells a story
Of once in a lifetime

Migration to England
Fresh off the boat
Earning at fourteen
To lend a hand he was keen

A tale
That could only be his
Of travelling to Afghanistan
Him and his car in 1966

A young wife and 3 sons
Along came a daughter
When he needed one
Got them married his job was done

He is the vision of hope
For without that
You might as well be a dead man
Work hard and live honest

My grandad always says
Do your bit
And stand tall and proud
Keep your feet firm on the ground

And now he speaks
Of friends all gone
Wrapped up in a shroud
That day will come for us all son

You'll lose your sight
Hearing
Teeth and hair too
Remember this no matter what you do

Never do anything
Which one day you will rue
And if you don't learn from your mistakes
Don't weep and expect anyone to pity you

On the beaches of Zanzibar

Straight from the trees
Sleep to the lullaby
Of rain and birds
In a tree house

Naturally optimistic
And incredibly resilient
She captures you as a prisoner of infatuation
Her eyes hold promises of things you couldn't handle
Selling you dreams
She keeps telling you things
Once upon a time you looked at her as though she held all the stars in her eyes
And now everything you loved about her gets on your last nerve
The resilience became stubbornness and an unwillingness to compromise or bend at your will
Her mindless talk was just another distraction in your busy life
And that's when she knew
That her deepest darkest fear
Was not spiders or heights
It was you
Who put her on a pedestal
Who made her believe in herself
You who fought against the world for her
Her fear was you falling out of love with everything that made you love her

Utopia
Simpleton Dec 2015
Here between these walls
The world is intoxicated
And you and I are the only ones sane
As we negotiate each others pain
And compensate it with blissful pleasure
Only we can fix all that is wrong
Beyond steamed windows
Outside where the world drowns in rain
Bit by bit
We discover the secret of happiness
And peace
As we fulfill the hunger within us
I swear we are half way there to ending poverty
We are overcome within ourselves
We are not you and I
But one
I'm wearing your old sweater
And we snuggle propped up against the wall
Or each other
Our arms wound around and palms pressed close, fingers knitted together
Your fingers stroke my hair
As we listen to the different heartbeats
And voice our own dreams
With words we build separate versions of an ideal world
Cora you say
How come we're here like this
We're both so different
And I reply that it doesn't matter
We both have too much respect to let differences matter
Respect for the right of others
To reach for achieving a utopia without harming another being
The secret is to never see yourself as superior
And balance it with never seeing yourself as inferior
It doesn't matter what the colour of your envelope is
Or what factory you were made in
Your brand is not the name of your religion or the soil you were born on
The essence and material are the same
I can feel your smile tickling against my forehead as you whisper
I think I know what you mean
Let me show you
And a foreign sound reaches my ears
It's a slow rhythmic tune
With soft vocals
I have no idea what the words mean
And at that moment
Not for the first time
It crosses my mind
That if everyone spoke the same language would we still be like this
But it doesn't matter
As I listen like a blind man with no sense of time
I understand the song is about love
And there's a touch of longing
I can feel the melancholy in her voice
And the nostalgic homesickness in his
As the song plays on
I imagine the two lovers were reunited
I can feel the gratitude
And relief
I can see their future
And its everything I've always dreamed of
My kind of utopia

Remember when you carved your name into the tree in the courtyard
Thinking it would last forever
It was uprooted when the house got separated into half
Because two families could not live together
And the baby who you held and loved
Grew to hate you
The relative his mom spoke so much of
All bad things
All one sided
The nan who once wanted to hide you in her hug
So they would leave you behind
Sent you on your way
Miles and miles so far
The friend your made
The one you met at every party
And promised to keep in touch with
Got married and you both got lost in your lives
People built houses on the cornfields you ran in that night
The open fires that once fascinated you
The tv missing from every home
A way of living that you admired
Turned into gas cookers
And tuning into the latest serial
The village dwellers sought the city life
Of technology and comfort
And the community life was dismantled
Relations distorted
All in the name of progression

Bluebird

I woke up early morning
To a tapping on my window
A blue bird sitting on the sill
Asked what I was doing

Oh hey there lil bird
I'm spreading butter with a spoon
But keep it between me and you
There's a few other crazy things I do too

Like taking moon beams that I find on my floor
And putting them all in a jar
I'm saving them for something special
But as of yet I'm not really sure

I hug trees
And chase rainbows
Trace smiley faces in fogged up windows
I even glue googly eyes on my kettle and toaster so I don't feel alone

Tell me lil bird
I've always wondered
Are there creatures with wings
Scared to fly
Afraid of heights

And if there are do they go to social events
Like birds of a feather do
If they walk and don't fly
do they have to wait in a line
At the buffet for their food

Tell me of furry etiquettes and norms
Are you bound by rules
Of the kingdom of birds
Or are blue birds blue bloods

We had quite the conversation going on
My little tapping blue bird and me
That's when I opened the window spread my arms
and we were both gone
Flying away into the free

Left helpless by my inability to help you,
What good
is talking about something that's on your mind,
What good
is me providing an ear,
Shedding with you a useless tear,

Your words ignite anger,
and together we burn in a crazy hatred filled blaze.
High on hurt and intolerable pain,
Lusting on scenarios to exact our blood, thirsty,
unrealistic revenge.

What we'd do if we had the means,
If you had the money to escape,
And could write your own fate,
You problems would abate.

Hearing your sobs turn dry,
Shaking, left shattered, broken and weak.
The cycle begins once again,
You pick yourself up and leave,
Unable to turn the other cheek.

Till next time then,
so farewell,
It kills me knowing that when it comes around,
I'll be with you reliving this cruel truth,
But alas together we'll hopelessly plod through.

As you return to your prison,
Problems unresolved,
I sit with a heavy heart,
Fearing your safety,
Saddest of all; not from all the problems,
But the dread of what will happen if you lost yourself.

Tiny hands
Curled around your finger

Hold on tight
You were never meant to have her
She's a gift that'll be returned
Leaving us all to mourn

But rejoice that
Even just for that moment
She was yours
You were a mother

The best that could be
And you loved her
More than anyone could see
But God needed his cherub

More than you and me
Barely there
Dreams
Of what could have been

Hold on tight
Let the light she lit
Grow
Let it spread

The bittersweet perfection
Of how she enchanted
And the goodnight kiss
You pressed against her forehead

Now she's just something
We ain't got
Our favourite person
Who's not where we are

All we want is what we had
But she's moved on
And we'd trade it all to get her back
But she's happy where she's at

Believers vs believers
A sign of judgement day
Spilling the blood of mankind
That is what the Lord forbade

The one being slaughtered
Is clueless as to why
A brother is taking his life
And the murderer also does not know the reason for picking up a knife

The state of mankind
Is beyond ******* up to be repaired
Long gone are the times when strangers cared
Every night is in competition with another to becomes the darkest and wildest

Next of kin worried about inheritance
And spouses taking out life insurance claims
The soul is bruised
But on a shell is placed a band aid

Fine wining and dining
Abundance leftovers in the bin
Whilst the neighbour starves
As people frolic in sin

Slaves giving birth to masters
Power in the hands of wrong
And those buried six foot under
Are suddenly the lucky one's

Knowledge decreasing
And ignorance on the rise
We compete in the construction of the tallest building
And mothers abandon their children

Beauty pageants
And *** selling cars
The ship of the world sinks
In broad daylight

Yet we un-fasten our seatbelts
And live by ride or die
Yolo people
Get an intoxicated high on a traitorous life

A year passes like a month
And a month like a week
Nothing remains but a name
Humans who massacred humanity

'O believers'
Pray
Pray my love stays safe
That happiness
And health
Follow her like a plague

It is the stubbornness of
A lover
For the sake of his love

She is the direction of my soul
The purpose for my prayers
The one who makes me whole

Give me your word!

If it wasn't for the compassion
Of my Lord
Then what would happen
To people with a fate like mine

What would happen
To the helpless
Without the mercy
And guidance of God's cover

Then this pauper
Would be deprived of her smile
I would not be and
This flower would not grow

I would not taste
The sweetness of love
Feel the beauty of this world
And wish love upon everyone
Like a precious gold
You have to know

So I give alms in her name
Cherish every moment
Hold hands
And use her fingers
To count my prayers
Like rosary beads
Sharing the good deeds
Because she is the answer
To a prayer answered
Before I even asked

*Paradise together is my ultimate prayer

My favourite things
Simpleton Nov 2013
Blueberry lip balm
And strawberry gum
The chorus of a love song
These are a few
Of my favourite things
Smiling out loud
And the hum of quiet
Watering plants
And waving hello
Chunky monkey
Ben and Jerry's ice cream
Walking in the rain
Tetris and snake is the game
Writing on fogged up windows
I like anything that glows
Daddies pushing prams
And old couples holding hands
Rolling down hills
Christmas lights
Shining so bright
Lighting up the night
Blowing out candles
And making wishes
Smiley faces
In all of my texts
Cloud watching
Puddle splashing
Jumping down steps
Swinging at the park
Counting stars after dark
Mindless doodles
Ballerina twirls
Fast cars
And shooting stars
Family get togethers
And child curiosity
Day dreaming
Butterflies
And rainbow colours
These are a few of my favourite things

I fell in love
And caught myself
When you didn't
Just stood right back up
And brushed it off
Like a trip
A slip of the foot
I walk now
With a limp
But at least I didn't become a *******

Religions of Abraham
Simpleton Jun 2014
God came one day to Abraham
Saying Abe my son I have this plan
See all these stars up in the sky
To your kin folk I will give life

So Abraham being a righteous man
Had two sons all in Gods plan
But being old he and his wife couldn't wait
So he laid with a female slave

Miracles from above
Ishmael and Isaac grew up
But a test came for his love
God had asked for his trust

Hagar was left behind
As father and son travelled the dessert
Where he had been called to testify
How he could pioneer and turn to right
Bring civilisation to God's light

Now we all know the test was passed
Or we wouldn't be here today
Speaking of the saviours who brought us to God's way

From Abraham came his sons
The messengers forever honoured
In Christianity, Judaism and Islam
Jacob, Moses, Elijah and Jonah

Zechariyah, John, Soloman and Noah
From them came Jesus and Mohammed
So we say peace be upon them all
And peace be upon this world

United we stand
For our ancestors were one
From the same blood we began
For the same Lord we bow...

Islam Opressess Women
Simpleton Dec 2013
They say that we're oppressed
Suffocating behind veils
And wear un-attractive bin bags
Shapeless and nameless

They say we're not allowed to be educated
And assume we can't speak English
That we're slaves to men
And we should forsake the medieval religion

The medieval religion that gave me life
And stopped female child infanticide
The one that treats me equal with no false illusions

The one that says that I should be respected as a person not a body
The one that first gave me rights
To vote and own property

The religion that commands me to seek knowledge and educate
To travel for this duties sake
And allows me to keep my name

Islam says that I should be covered
Like all things rare and special
Pearls and diamonds
You wouldn't flash your jewels for the taking

Nuns are admired for their devotion
And respected for their piety
Also clinging on to their modesty
Our models are Maryam or Mary

Not a cent that I earn has to be spent on anyone but myself
And the best of men in Allah's eyes
Is one who treats me the best

Back when everything
Seemed better when you were dizzy
But then that stopped working
So you sought a better thrill
Louder music
To drown it all out
But sometimes it isn't loud enough
Sometimes it doesn't work
Then you found the rush of love
Infatuation with another being
Someone to hold you
And make you peaceful
Putting truth in all the liars
Made you forget about the haters
Silent seeker
When you didn't want anyone to care
that's when they did
But nobody listened
When it mattered to you
So sometimes you don't know
What to do with yourself
And sometimes you don't know
Where to go for help
Sometimes you wish that
You could hide away
and hide away you did
Let it get you down
And life passed you by
Those dreams of
when I get older
Got older
and you stopped struggling
Waved your flag
And wasted a future
Paused on the past

It took him only 3 words
To undress her soul
And then he ****** the life out of her mind

I love you

It took him only 2 words
To break down her walls
And then he molested all her feelings

I'm sorry

It took her only 2 words
To give all she was
And then he killed all she could have been

Infectious Happiness
Simpleton Mar 2014
Sometimes I get
An enchanted hug
From
Butterflies and lightening bugs
Faeries sprinkle their magic dust
And it makes me overcome
With bursting happiness
Lighting up like fireflies
Bouncing on my feet
I flit from you
To her
To him
Wrap my arms around your waist
Squeeze you closer
Hold you tighter
And plant the softest touch of my lips
Against your cheek
I want to make you feel
This miracle
As guardian angels surround us
Laughter pours out
Through the tears in my eyes
And I can't put into words
Or explain why
Just that I feel so alive
I want to share it
Make you feel
This intense feeling
Its magical
Its special
And I want it to infect you
Fill that empty space
You never knew you had
With love as sweet as honey
Positivity that sends your mind spinning
Watch it spark the fibres of your being
Let it stay with you in a secret pocket
Like kangaroos with their young
It will change your world
With added passion
And enthusiasm
Where nothing else matters
And no time existed before
I want to hear
The gasps of wonderment
Tinkering of giggles
That escape from me
In fulfilment
Echo back from you
As we hold each other and
Bask in this glory of
Pure perfection

Dear Mr. Preacher
Why are you so greedy for
Everytime I see you
You ask for a dollar to feed the poor
I just want you to
Look me in the eyes
And realise
I don't own a cent
Let alone two to create a jingle
Money comes money goes
In my case it just goes
I owe the landlord
Tonight he's throwing me out the door
My accounts in overdraft
Saving
What's saving
I don't know
Why must you ask and shame me for
Announce it on the speaker
20 dollars from Mrs Sparks
One hundred from old man Williams
Thank you for being so generous
With your donation
In God's house it's become a bidding war
For thou art the holiest
And kindest
God loves the charitable
But forgive me if I'm wrong
Did He not also speak of the boastful
Pride is a man's downfall
And if I had a dollar or two to spare
Or maybe more
I would leave it anonymously
Like the way a breeze lifts the cat flap
In the wall
The way you would find a forgotten paper bill
In an old purse

She laughs too hard
Simpleton Nov 2014
She laughs too hard
She laughs too much
But she's waiting for death
And lives to die another day

She believed in faeries
And rainbows
Glitter made everything glow
And laughing made everything seem okay

She forgets too less
And pretends too hard
So she runs as fast as she can
From the past

Until her lungs burn
Then places her hands on her chest
To feel her heart thump
Like the fear of giving up

The way he walks
Simpleton Aug 2015
He walks like there is an orchestra beneath his feet
He's got a hop to his skip like step that brings the rhythm out from the music of his smile
And the smile, its like global warming
A smug smirk that should look arrogant but it suits him
It's cute and matches the confidence in his eyes
Good Lord those eyes
That you never want to look away from
They hold the world you want to live in
Show you the soul you want to live with

Good Day
Simpleton Jan 2014
Its a free house
My parents have gone
Out for the day
Leaving me to my own devices

An entire house in which to play
So I open all the doors
And turn the music to full blast
Slide down the hallway in my socks

Doing the moon walk as I go past
Air guitar
And chugging juice straight from the carton
Eating my cereal in a cup

I'll make sandwiches with crisps
And munch with my mouth open
Jump on my bed
And laugh out loud

Spin round and round
Sneak into my brothers room
And steal back all the stuff
He stole from me

Spend the day in my pyjamas
Hours on the phone
Spray momma's expensive perfume
On my going out clothes

Hide all the chocolate biscuits
Order take-out
And settle down to a good movie
Its been a good day
