New Year Birthday
Ryan O'Leary Dec 2024
There are only three
dates we remember.

Fools day our birthday
and New Year’s Day.

My sister was born on
the latter, back in 1963.

In Ireland if ‘twas a boy
or a child John or Jackie.

There was a lot of (Pope)
John’s too and John Paul’s.

I only ever met one Elvis
In my entire time in Ireland.

Speaking of anniversary’s,
we all recall the kings death.

And even though it was this
year, my sisters is forgotten.

But unlike the Memphis boy
she had a wooden heart!

Prolific Pain
Ryan O'Leary Dec 2024
When I wake, I am
surrounded by mind
mischief telling me
how futile my life
is and it’s true, my
existence is a misery.

But I have to accept
the things I cannot change.

When Heaney was
asked, “what does it
take to be a great poet”
he responded, PAIN.

According to the diagnosis
there was no magic pill or
potion for his discomfort,
the prognosis was just write.

I was recently asked,
“why are you such a prolific poet”

It is because Bob is my doctor too.

But there is no sanctuary
From western sanctions.

Such an ambiguous word
Having opposed meanings.

It can approve or disapprove
Pending on its pronunciation.

Out of inner sanctum’s, doom.

Yet donkeys get sanctified in
The sanctuaries of Ireland.

Down, without the S,
syndrome, is common,
especially at year end.

Christmas is not toll
free for anyone, it’s a
bridge we must cross.

When darkness comes,
chameleons of daylight,
gate crash our serenities.

Everything passes though
painfully slow, but all of
nature shares the anxiety.

Persevere pain, best wine
comes from vines which
grow on inclement ground.

Best vintages are stored
in dark cellars, improving

Typeface Bold, is about John Bradburne the worlds most prolific poet.

He left behind 6,000 poems.[16] He is in the Guinness World Records for being in terms of lines of poetry alone, the most prolific poet in English. Comprising a total of 169,925 individual lines. Bradburne's output almost doubles that of William Shakespeare.[17] Most of his poems were written after 1968 and cover a wide range of spiritual, natural, elegiac and narrative subject matter. As he wrote his domestic letters largely in verse, new poems from the recipients are still occasionally found

Poems Syndrome
Ryan O'Leary Dec 2024
POEMS syndrome is a rare blood disorder that can affect multiple body systems, including the nerves, organs, and skin. The name POEMS stands for the syndrome's most common signs and symptoms:
Polyneuropathy: Nerve damage that can cause pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness in the legs and hands, and difficulty breathing
Organomegaly: Enlarged liver, spleen, or lymph nodes
Endocrinopathy/edema: Abnormal hormone levels that can lead to diabetes, hypothyroidism, ****** problems, fatigue, and swelling in the limbs
Monoclonal protein: An abnormal protein produced by abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow
Skin changes: Darkening, thickening, red spots, or increased ****** or leg hair
What Is POEMS Syndrome? An Overview
POEMS syndrome is caused by abnormal plasma cell function in the bone marrow. The abnormal plasma cells release a monoclonal protein into the blood, which can damage nerves and organs.
An early sign of POEMS syndrome is papilledema, which is reported in 29–64% of patients. Papilledema correlates with poor prognosis.
Nerve pain is common in POEMS syndrome and can be treated with drugs such as amitriptyline, gabapentin, or pregabalin.

Ps.

I am suffering from a rare
form of compulsory poetry
disorder with my current
count of 5,733 poems and the
Guinness book of records
