I wake up,
look at you,
I see everything.
while I linger
on the corners of your mouth
I see the pillars of morning light
and the way your breath
is hypnotic

I see the moment between
dreaming and day
for all it's worth
and I know in my bones
that it's worth holding onto
I see your eyebrows furrow
and remember why
I should burn the letters
that I write when I'm angry

I remember when I saw you
and I couldn't remember
where we'd gotten lost
but my soul sighed with relief
when I found you

I see you
and I see everything

I can see myself
destroying
my own dignity,
popping it like
bubble-wrap
and watching as it
deflates
under my
forcible
fingertips.

I re-experience her,
here,
yes here.
The joy that was lost long ago.
We share again,
we smile again.
I remember the only thing,
the river,
the warmth.
I confess,
something never said before.
We share again,
we smile again.
It wasn't meant to be,
but still,
I wait,
here,
yes here.

There are some things
I don't think I'll
ever tell you:
like how I
shook
on the bus ride here
and planned my outfit
five days in
advance.
I won't ever
tell you because
you won't ever
need to know.
You see,
once we were actually
face to face
everything just
clicked
for the first time in
far too long.

I didn't get an
opportunity
to consider falling
for you,
it just happened
like missing
a step in the dark.
And I didn't get a
say
in the matter
but if I had I
don't think I'd have
fallen
any less hard.

I've never believed
in forevers
but I'm ok
with the possibility:
I'm ok with
just this one sunset
out of all the
millions
gone and
yet to come,
just this one sunset
with you
next to me
singing out of tune and
everything
surrounded by
water.

Get lost with me.
Let's forget about
time,
I like it best when
none of that matters.
You say we've got
all these hours
to **** but
let's not waste them
because it's
one more hour
with you
and I don't know when
I'll get another.

I am hanging on the
ends of the words
you don't speak,
searching for something
in our eye contact that
may or may not
be there.
Because
like I said
I don't believe in
forevers
but I sure as hell
believe
in the chance.

Why
 Oct 2014 Roberta Day
Lone Wolf
Why
Why do we fall in love?
it is believed that when humans were first created,
We were two body's fused together
With two heads, four arms and four legs
But only one heart,
The mighty Zeus feared our potential
And split us all in two,
Dooming us to spend eternity searching
For our other half

Then why does love hurt so much?
*because child, sometimes, the love god Eros,
Well, he doesn't have the best aim
And that ***** everything up
I love Greek mythology. Eros is the Greek god better known by his roman counterpart, Cupid.
I think
sometimes
I bring you up
in conversations
just so my lips
can form your name
Wake up like what happened
In a bed next to your friend
Thursday night feeling more like the weekend
But that's old new what's right with today
Waking up with regret like the rent you'll never be able to pay
All because you set out on a journey to make her your bae
I hate that word, the bane of our language
So easily manipulating words to create another's anguish
I thought it was bad enough when random white girls tried to learn Spanish
From all this Reggaeton and fast living and not caring what you're hearing
All I want to do is love, but you all lost that capability and feeling...
The story doesn't end just because it's my last rhyme you got time sit down and let me give you some of mine
Let me tell you what this is really about
Y'all calling people thirsty when there's a drought
I don't understand this assimilation are you seeking it out?
They say just be you, and that's scarcity nowadays
Finding who you are is a **** maze that nobody wants to navigate
