We ran from forest to cliff edge

From cities through fields

To where we stood now breathless.

Your eyes caught mine, such sorrow

I saw beneath the reflections

The moonlight cast the tree’s its shadows

Drifting with the wind intertwined.

We followed the light of the east coast harbour

And sought salvation in the stars

Can it ever be ours? The choices and decisions?

Are we all but just who we are

Made from the opinions and thoughts of

Everyone who surrounds us?

Our friends are all we are worth

Worth nothing without them

And I knew you needed this

To escape from what you had built

To get away from all that you knew.

And its only pride that has got you this far alone

But it can’t stay like this forever

We all fall to our knees

In search of something greater

We all lose sight of where we’re going.

You left the world behind and I followed

In the search for who we were

We found each other’s hands in the darkest of lands

And we travelled back towards our friends

To the place where our eyes and hearts called home
