Floating between the dew-covered, deep-green grass
11:59pm
the last firefly of summer winked out of sight
bringing the bittersweet nostalgia
as the gentle breeze suddenly cooled
and the crickets hushed
Still
there was the feeling of hopeful anticipation
For the leaves to turn from shade to shades
For the snow to fall, the flowers to grow
and for the fireflies to return
