Poems
May 2014
the vigil
sitting by your bed
waiting for the waiting
to cease
my, heart a lump,
within my breast.
watches for your beat
barely discernable and frail.
so many things left unsaid
misunderstood, misread.
but there is love
mother to child
child to mother
there was love
you fade, each breath
a small farewell
each tear i shed a plea for
forgiveness
as i wait and witness
there is love and forgiveness
here carrying one home
and another to release
a burden .... forgiven.
written for a friend whose mother passed away... posted with her permission.
in hopes it may comfort others
