If I'm nice to you, I'll be rewarded with name calling later.
If I stand up for myself, I'm poison.
If I don't say anything to your insults, I'm a coward.
If I try to teach you, you close your ears.
If I try to hold you, you push me away.
If I speak up, I'm shut down.

Because of all this...
I've learned to keep you at arms length.
I've learned you think me a fool.
I've learned to never ask a question.
I've learned that love doesn't conquer all.
Most of all...
I've learned that blood isn't thicker, at all.
