The backstory of a past glory
written in the pennies on your eyes

and now you're in the parlour
with your friends and family
filing past you
it's too late for worries now

and in the other room
where the buffet is laid
the wine has been opened
no one looks dismayed
,
on the contrary
they only look hungry
for
what you left behind.
