I remember this one look
we had just started spending time together
it was a sunny afternoon in front of City Hall
we were saying goodbye
I hugged him and looked up

our faces far apart
his eyes gazed down at me

warily
he was not smiling
there seemed to be so much there
behind that pensive gaze
