the moral norms of that time
were of a proper kind
twas the Victorian period
the straight society did exist
living outside this box
was seen as being a tad odd
one couldn't be
what one wanted to be
for those persons
were judged as abnormal
they kept their homosexuality
well hidden from others in society

long he'd pondered
on his lot
for he was a man
who preferred
another mans company
his liking for another of his gender
didn't comply
with the straight society

Oscar lay in the gutter
he lay with the dross
his sexuality
had not a shining societal gloss
he looked up at the stars
and his eyes filled with beauty
for he had found love
with the man of his dreams
the sparkling stellar glints
consoled him so...
The title of this piece is a Oscar Wilde quote and I am attempting to tell of his personal story with his own words.
