and you mattered

at first it wasn’t much
casual words she

may have said to others

but you could see her
eyes were open

they could take in
more than the others

it didn’t take long
for you to let her in

she entered your mind
she felt your scars

and she wasn’t scared
but you were

you pushed her out
before she could reach
