I'm awake by the time you're asleep
I can see how you're lost in dreams,
As I stare deep within your soul
I only hope tonight it's a good dream.
I caress your pallid skin,
Hold your fragile hands onto mine,
Keep you deep within.
I feel how you shiver under your breath
I see how your tears run dry.
Are you afraid, my love?
Are you too weak to cry?
Nevertheless I'll let you suffer
Under your own feeble skin,
I'll hold you in my arms so close
I'll take you to my world, in my dreams.
Yes, I'll protect you,
From all the evil there is,
And all the bad things, too.
I'll drive away all your fears and horror
I'll take away your nightmares
So sleep, my dear
Dream away, 'cause they're real.
I hear our heartbeats shift in utter silence,
"I'm here" I whisper to you, "I'm here."
It's about how he saved her from her own shadow, her own darkness. And tonight he wishes for her to dream something good. He held her in his arms, staying awake all night be her side. It's only his part of the story.
