Aug 2018
all over New South Wales
the rural picture is grave
lands haven't been bathed
in rain's sating lave

the big dry continues
to drastically parch
every inch of countryside
gripped by its march

skeletal like livestock
graze the dusty fields
no vital blades of grass
are seen in their wields

we've not encountered
a drought this long of stretch
since the nineteen sixty
five's arid sketch

clouds of promising grace
are required real soon
as the situation has reached
a point of high noon

farming communities
desperately await
the opening of a well
sodden acreage's gate
