It would be nice
if we ever looked into each other's eyes
and see a world covered with red skies
and red sun and red stars and red kites
to know that these butterflies
are more than just some made up lies

It would be nice
if you'd like me back
if you'd look at me
the way I looked at you
dream of me, wanted me
the way I do for you

But it would also be nice
if one day I open my eyes
to find what once was red
is now just a faint blue sky
and accept that these butterflies
are no more than just my made up lies
