Mother may I say thanks
For raising me
Not befriending me

Mother may I tell you
I appreciate all you’ve done
You’ve given your all and expected none

Mother may I thank you
For giving me the road map of life
So I may find my own way through strife

Mother may I tell you
You have shown all kindness and love
And I will pass it on like the peaceful dove

Mother may I say thanks
For when i stray as the young tend to do
You always welcome me home
with open arms and hot food
