A seed from a different field, made its way into my plot
I decided to be its shield, I didn't give it a second thought

With beautiful petals much different than mine
Such vibrant colors I watched it shine
I watched it grow with the sun we shared
Other flora didn't understand why I cared

Ugly weeds tried to uproot her
Did I do something wrong, I couldn't know for sure
I just kept serenading her with my beautiful song
A poem I wrote for my step-daughter
