Today I climbed,
the mountain of longing,
and I can tell you,
it was steep.

I was breathing hard,
even before the ascent,
the wind was strong, and
quick to reject my resolve.

And the mist descended,
with my very first step,
it came in whispering,
my secrets to the peak.

Onwards, and my jar of hearts
it fell into the river,
dissolved desire like salt,
into the valley of fear.

I heard the mist again,
only much louder,
it said I’m a fool,
don’t you know?

The mountain only grows,
with each step of yours,
and this is your curse,
that there’s no difference.

Between longing and desire.
