The bright coals oh how they illuminate the starvation in your eyes
The pain
How it engulfs me completely
The void of my stomach rumbles as I stare into the embers
The ash falls on me like April snow
My heart races forward like a locomotive as I anticipate the satisfaction to come
I feel myself wither away
I draw weary
My soul is too weak for the wait
As I stare into the fire I wonder what  I have become?
This was a group effort. Credit to jlm
