I am an actor
I act like I don’t care
I use the ground beneath my feet as a stage
And I dress myself up so that you can’t recognize me
But it’s all an act

I am a singer
I’ll sing songs to get "her" off of my mind
With every note come closer to doing so
Or at least closer to believing the lie
But they’re all just songs

I am a writer
I write to archive the life of a heartbroken man
A life no one knows beyond the page
Solely because I live it on the inside
But they’re just words

I am a fraud
And though I may try to change my ways
Though I vow to better myself
And though I wish to free myself
I shall chain myself to the sinking ship of the captain I impersonate

And drown.
