Heavy breaths,
half-lidded eyes.
Baring teeth,
my last goodbye.

And then,
you came along.

Like a knight in chinked armor,
you kept my predators away.
Took me to a safe haven,
when I asked you to stay.

I shared my life story,
and you shared your own.
Two broken strangers
looking for a place called 'home'.

I'd never say it out loud,
but you're the one I really chose.
They say there's no forever,
*but we got pretty close.
it's not at all my best work, but i was having a floradin day. for a pairing from francisco baltazar's "florante at laura." :^)
