Her venomous lies as numerous as her hair.
Can turn any man to stone with a simple stare.
That's how I found myself in the position I was stuck in.
Was tired of digging through the rough when I thought I found my diamond.
But that fake glass shattered in hand and the pieces they dug in.
Now when I feel things, I do it with caution.

Eyes closed, hands pressed, I pray to a god I can't see.
Shifting, swaying, spinning, I try to keep the beat, but I'm dancing to a broken melody.
Clock ticks, world spins but I'm living in my memories.
Where did I go wrong?
In the eyes of the child the sun shines as far as it can see.
The old knows the horizon isn't as far as it seems.
You feel the cold long before you see the dark, try as you might there is no turning back.

I could show you the real me but you wont like what is inside.
The thoughts and ideas that swim in my mind.
Promise not to judge me, whatever you find.
My mind is a labyrinth I have yet to fully define.
What I have found so far is not for the faint of heart.
If you are sure you are ready, take my hand, and we will depart.

I pray my secret won't see the light
I pray my shadow stays hidden from sight
Smile, laugh and pretend as I might
The darkness always comes along with the night
So each night I pray, I pray with my might
I pray for more days with my false delight
