Today was a slow day on the news wire
Nothing at all going on
The people and things that cause trouble in life
Must have decided to call it quits and stay home

No earthquakes or tornado's to speak of
No mudslides or fires to ravage the land
All the people who bring us the bad news
Stood around just scratching their heads

Not a person was murdered or robbed
No kidnapping or spousal abuse
Nothing much exciting to speak of
That we've grown to expect in our news

No bombs in the Middle East went off
No politicians were caught in a lie
No Hollywood Star said something stupid
No one famous or not even died

Yes today was a slow day on the news wire
Nothing at all going on
Which has the rest of us wondering
If this is the calm before the storm

you are .....

my breath* .....

1.
the powerful, yet gentle wind beneath this dismal, broken flight
the crazy, brilliant ship on stormy seas;
can’t fly over to you ... on wounded wings
can’t sail the wide oceans .... without its captain.

2.
should grow up, by now....
but just can’t, ok.
why so afraid of what longs to be, what's meant?
let me tell you, this is real!

3.
how failure sits smug, an endless smirk
hopelessly try to put it all together again.

you are ....my very breath.... and yet,
you are ....still unable to see ....

how did the sun go missing.....
oh, how the feeling of failure can dog the soul.
yeah, woof woof.
no entertaining of profound elegies here, ok.

sub-entry:

‘the places you took me’

1.
so many magical things we said and (almost) left unsaid
oh, how we tried to see if our jigsaw pieces could cascade and fit tight
myriad collections of happy squares and delightful triangles
and so oft, we tripped over each others’ thoughts.

2.
yet, what I love best ...will always be...
the places you took me ... oh!
into deep and silent caves - where we beamed our life-light
over the wheat-coloured fields - where we roamed so freeeee ...

3.
yes, I keep nurturing in steadfast hope
that arboured grove we planted together
and like canopied, navy night-sky, it flourishes beyond reckoning ....
despite your hectic absence.

4.
and then, you left me so
badly  a-hitching for breath....again
yet, the feel of you is so strong: intense
when the heavens pour rain ....like now.

5.
what a non-linear journey, you've lit the unseen way!
but without you, rain is just water falling
need to remember to keep breathing
oh, breathe me ......

Mom and dad used to tell,"Don't be self conscious, go out and mingle"
Even  profit minded corporates, yell out,"Be socially conscious, conserve"
let soul be a myth or not, one feels kinship with all life, at least once in awhile,
cosmos is you and me, starlight whispers; what more is needed to have cosmic consciousness?

As I lay me dying,
See how all the children play
In the flaming streets of a winter day
Without taking heed to what I say.

As I lay me dying,
Catch a pigeon's flight to blend
In the toxic clouds of violence
That steal away all her innocence.

As I lay me dying,
Listen to the mournful cry
Of guns and bullets in lullaby
As they dance to both the truth and lie.

As I lay me dying,
Laugh at all the foolish hounds
In armored suits and heavy bounds
As they kneel before an ungodly crown.

As I lay me dying,
Witness how the world intends
To end her days in great amends
And awake the curse to last the ends.

As I lay me dying,
Watch with me in this graze of grey
While the sun dries my flesh in decay
As the sea of tears drowns its bloodstained rays.

As I lay me dying,
Join me as I breathe my last
For the darkest future and regretful past
And the wrecked present that my greed has cast.

This phenomenon does indeed
Circumvent logic and render the cliché
‘LOVE IS BLIND”….a defunct concept
Almost alien in societies replete with
People savouring the blows
Of emotional tug of wars.
It’s a thorn in the flesh…..
An enigma that’s so audacious
It dares defy the very essence of the human existence
Which undoubtedly is Human intellect
It surely does wreak sweet havoc
And leave in its wake
Irreversible destruction
Care not to be featured in its myriad “conquests
random reflections of a seemingly disgruntled soul

It's not about smiles
It's not about love
It's not about progress
It's about giving a ****
About the right people
People like you
Who help those in need
When you're not asked to
It's about looking outside
And seeing the beauty
It's about being alone
And not feeling lonely
It's appreciating the little things
Despite what's occurred
It's meeting new people
In a place so absurd
It's made up of choices
Based on the heart
It's made up of people
Who couldn't dare part
This is the point
Know that I meant it
Life is worth living
Don't you forget it

If we could but die one million and one deaths
To be aware and assured one million new beginnings
To have the freedom to revel
in our failings and false starts
To have the time to be swallowed by our emotions-
to float serenely in pools of delight
when in those lives of joy,
to cast ourselves headlong down wells of sorrow
when in those lives of grief
A million lives to spend or waste
Infinite opportunities to grow and discover
No longer held to who we hurriedly decide we are
Driven instead by probabilities
hand in hand with impossibilities of
who we could be
Instead we struggle in the web
of this single life's imagined deadlines
unable to escape the one-lane
tunnel vision trajectory

this time.
