"Maybe just a little taste
Is that too much to ask?

A little taste of love tonight
I'll take it in a flask.

Seems to me my luck runs out
They never seem to stay.

Once dawn breaks on high
I stand in disarray.

I pick up my heart and climb the stairs
waiting for new love.

Maybe just a little taste
I'll take it in a hug."

I am the other woman
the one that never gets the man
I am all his lustful thoughts dreamed up
I am her nightmare in a can

You see she will never give him all he needs
and he will never leave her a fact I now believe
She has his family and his past
and I am the woman who keeps coming in last

I am the other woman...
I know I am not everyone's biggest fan
but I loved him the way he really wants
and the way that she never truly can

I pretend it's nothing when you hold my hand outside,
That we've always been doing this - the eating in public.

When we meet for short hours,
I pretend I don't mind.

You've never really said, but we are what I am - the Other Woman that is.
I pretend I don't mind.

I think we will be if I hold your hand tight,
That you need me more than her, that I know you more than she.

But I see her in your eyes, and your smile when she calls.

So I know what this means - that you will leave in the end.

So while it lasts,
I pretend...
I don't mind.
