Take a chance on me
KB May 2015
Take a chance on me, my love
Let's see how far it goes
I swear to open up my heart
But vow to look in close

Explore the depths of my soul
Find the places where I hide
Tear down the walls I built
To keep out the irresolute of heart

Probe the edges of my mind
Peel out my layers one by one
Collect my broken pieces
See past my cold facade

Know the silly stories I keep
And what makes my eyes light up
The quips that make me giggle
The ploys that make me laugh

Learn the words that speak to me
And the tricks that make me smile
The tunes that pull my heartstrings
The scenes that make me cry

Honey, take my hand in haste
Like there's not a time to waste
Keep me safe inside your arms
Like I would never come to harm

In turn, I'll lie beside you
And be there when you want
I'll be your little sunshine
To cheer you when you're down

I'll know when you need to be alone
Or if you need someone to care
I'll take pride in your achievements
And delight in all your quirks

I'll believe in all your dreams
And trust the words you say
I'll savor all our moments
And please you in every way

Take a chance on me my love
Let's see how far it goes
If you find you still don't love me
I swear to let you go

The Chance You Didn't Take
KB Mar 2015
She was the train you missed by a second
You look longingly at her direction long after she was gone

She was the coffee that spilt before you could take a sip
The scent of her and the stain on the carpet remains to remind you of what you lost

She was the flower you planted that withered before it bloomed
You are always left wondering how beautiful your life would have been with her around

She was the card you didn't call when you had a strong hunch that you could have won
She was the chance you didn't take

If you had only rushed to meet her...
If you had only handled her right...
If you had only given her more attention...
If you had only been more brave...

To The One I Never Met
KB Mar 2015
To the one I never met
To the heart that doesn't care
To the love we never had
To the intimacy we'll never share

I could hear your voice even though I never did
Each word you said resonates in my ear
I knew you for a moment
But each second I held dear

Must I rejoice that our paths had crossed?
Or lament that it ever did?
For all that you have left me
Is a memory to reckon with

We were gonna be a perfect pair
The world was ours to conquer
We'd read each other poems
And share a lot of laughter

We were gonna be Chuck and Blair;
Scotty and Harvey Specter
But then I realized,
Scotty and Harvey didn't end up together

So I'll find my Chuck
And you'll find your Donna
To forget you or not
Will be my dilemma

A pity it can't be called love
Cause it was too short and shallow
But in my twisted reality
It was deep and not hollow

You'll think that I'm silly
Cause you're too good with reason
But what you don't understand
Is how to deal with emotion

In a different reality
You would have met me
We'd go for a walk
And say something witty

But you'll be fine
And I'll be okay
It will all make sense
Hopefully, someday

Dearest Daniel

This dazed damsel
delights in your deluge
deciphering your disposition
descending into your depths
dancing with your demons

Do you doubt my devotion
when I'm desolate when you disappear
and driven to despondence
disconsolate from our distance

You destroy my defenses
and disarm me with desire
Desecrate me, dear Dionysus
Deem me your dominion

Though you dive into debilitating darkness
Do not be disheartened, darling
This despair will be dispelled
for the deities with a duty you were destined

— The End —
