As we kiss
It's not just about love
Not just the physical
Not the tenderness of your lips
Nor its warm embrace
In that moment
Our souls intertwine
Reliving memories of each tear
Each laugh, and every touch
It's not just the cosmos coming together
It's the splitting of the atom
The deliverance of our shadow
Hair standing on end
The weight of each shackle on our mind lifted
The sound of the heart audible
The voice of our being loud
It's not just a kiss
But it's our world, our canopy
The big bang, just for two

Jilly
If only I had the slightest bait of appealing motivation offered to me
I would bite it of the hook until my gums bled.
If only I found the weakest ember of an idea worth fanning
I'd blow until my cheeks exploded.
If only I got the slighted whiff of enticement
I'd inhale until my lungs burst.
If only I had access to any original flavour
I would let it sit on my tongue,  seep into my bloodstream and travel to my brain until the nerve endings buzzed like sparklers on the 4th of July.

Looking down from the edge
I think about the pledge.
I can hear the birds
as I listen to the words.

"I pledge to the land
I will hold out my hand.
I'll help my neighbors
with their physical labors.

I pledge to my loved ones
I'll be here till they have sons.
To help raise them all
and catch them when they fall.

I pledge to me
there's lots to see.
It's not time to go,
the answer is no."

This speaks to me deep,
and I start to weep.
As I recite the pledge,
I turn away from the ledge.
