Urge to Feed
Urge to Feed

Headed to a job
A boss, and little pay
The feeling of claustrophobia
Never dwindling away

The walls are caving in now
I don’t have air to breathe
My body’s on the loose somewhere
Its’ only chance to flee

Going undercover
Invisible to see
One foot after another
My only chance to leave

I step into a new world
One I’ve never been
To forage for my sustenance
A sudden urge to feed

Grossly underestimated
Taken for a fool
Don’t be too judgmental
That would just be cruel

Savor every morsel
Like today’s your last
Overcompensating for
A straight line up the path

A quest to find lost memories
In the castle up the street
I hope the door is open
For I haven’t got the key

If I had it I would lose it
Set it down and walk away
It’s right there where I left it
Imagine my dismay

My memories are all but gone
Save for one or two
Don’t try and change the subject
It’s impolite to do

Instead, gather up your things
Follow me to solid ground
It’s what you do when no one’s looking
That really makes me proud

Don’t ever take for granted
Why our soldiers went to war
To secure all of our freedom
It’s too hard to ignore

Irma part 2
The wind, it blows
With great speed
It mows
Down houses and homes
To the degree,
unknown

Lives lost in its wake
Crumbled buildings,
Can wait
Lives lost, lives lost

Total destruction
Devastating
Flood waters
Not done taking

Floating cars
Shipwrecked boats
Start anew!
Heard someone shout

Memories and furniture
In the neighbors yard
Trees uprooted from the ground
No power near or far

These times when Mother Nature
Stirs up so many lives
We will rebuild ourselves
Its just a matter of time
I was lucky enough not to lose power. My prayers go out to those who lost so much more

Scars On My Heart
The scars on my heart
Are abstract like art
There’s both pain and beauty alike
I wear my scars, proud
Let there be no doubt
Of what I stand for if just out of spite
My scars tell a story
Of chaos and glory
That I triumphed and overcame
Now here I stand
A boy turned a man
And an expert that mastered the game

Just A Theory
I long to be free
A controversy of sorts
Follow my lead
I could use the support

I stand apart
From others like me
It’s hardest to start
I’m sure you’d agree

Alone in the dark
It’s true I can’t see
I’ll give you my heart
It’s true, yes indeed

I veer off course
It’s temporary
It’s hard to endure
Through the controversy

I’ll never give up
I’ll enter my plea
I’ll fill up my cup
And plead insanity

When I’m released
I’ll pretend to foresee
A future that’s bright
But that’s just a theory

There are things in life
That you just can’t unsee
Under the knife
Stuck in purgatory

There’s lies I believe
The time is fleeting
A fool for your love
In 100 degrees

Burning, not yearning
The red of my skin
It’s a little disconcerning
Of what could’ve been

Wall Walker
Wall walker, running from a chimpanzee
Mood talker, colder than chocolate ice cream

Highways end, so slam the breaks with antifreeze
Falling down, praying on my hands and knees

Pale skin, dryer than a sandy beach
Can't handle, more than one hundred degrees

Burnt toast, spread with old cottage cheese
Now freeze, and everybody hug a tree

On your way down, suspended in good company
Way back, wondering how this came to be

Go faster, but no faster than a sudden breeze
Not one, not two, everything that comes in threes

Slow motion, watching on a movie screen
Bad habits, do them if you so please

Carry me to h-town
Walk along the shore
Crispy bacon medley
Wanting more and more

Shaved cat, a whisker causing me to sneeze
Black rabbit, softer than a cute bunny

When the time is right
To hold on tight
I'll call you in to say goodnight

Wish you well, on your future remedies
Sleep tight, knelt down
on a bended knee

Dream, away your fears
Play, with your friends and peers
Shed, away your tears
Follow, your heart held dear

Head Held High
For all those with depression
A feeling that is wrenched
Avoid any obsession
To yield to your oppression

In dealing with this matter
Don’t listen to the chatter
Lift your head up high
It’s only a temporary disaster

See the underlining
Engage by confiding
In someone understanding
There’s no need to feel resigning

Open up your mind
You were put here by design
It’s the daily grind
That occupies our time

Let somebody know
You’re feeling kind of low
Stuck in the undertow
From the bar you set too low

Lift your spirits high
Let out what’s eating you inside
What occupies your mind
No need to run and hide

It’s just a passing feeling
That somehow has you reeling
Seek out medication
I know it’s unappealing

It’s a chemical imbalance
That can have you feel embarrassed
There’s nothing to be ashamed of
Its just another challenge

Overcome your fears
No need to wipe your tears
Speak out and be heard
To your family and peers

I know this from experience
If you’re dismissing my appearance
Life is way too short
For decisions so egregious

Just remember that you’re loved
From the lord above
Fight with all your might
When push comes to shove
I’ve experienced this feeling of hopelessness. Im here to tell you that it passes

Our Demise
Covered up in Fashion
With Love and Compassion
And a heaviness that weighs from deep within
A heavy sigh releases
And breaks up into pieces
Sulking and withering away
A tear falls from high in heaven
From one of my close brethren
And shocks all with looks of Dismay
A fool who’s dim witted
And Heavily committed
That has proof that we’re not all here to stay
Following the Procession
It comes to my attention
There doesn’t seem to be any other way
It’s how we choose to grieve
The tangled web we weave
That leads to our demise and disfunction

Besides B-sides
Been there, done that
Seen it all before
Foresight looming large
Seeing what's in store

Wake to face a new day
Set out to explore
Don fabric used to dazzle
Yet end up perfectly ignored

Make your mark on the world
Don't see it as a chore
Step out of your comfort zone
Be tempted by the allure

See what's on the b-side
What's been filtered to the core
You may find what it is you seek
Once you swing open that door

No limits to what life can offer
Isn't that exactly what it's for
Why set boundaries or barricades
At its essence, life is pure.

There’s little of the story known
Once the ocean turned to foam
The suds covered up the earth
Like a newborn babies birth
Then it melted from the rising sun
Bursting bubbles, one by one
Until the earths restored and new
Stunned in turn by a bird side view
Peering down from high above
Claws outstretched and that thereof
To see the earth as squeaky clean
Not judging like a war machine
Where love runs deep and freedom reigns
Then settles in and breaks the chains

The Ren Effect
It’s his bottle of light
That fills empty cups
It’s his melody that touches our souls
It’s the words that hit home
For the scared and alone
That leads them past the fiery coals
It’s a glimmer of hope
A pause in the scope
That allows us a moment to feel
To connect in a sense
Under no false pretense
To the sounds with a vast loved appeal
It’s his journey embarked
That we feel apart
Watching him grow and transform
In front of our eyes
His music revives
And shields us from the eye of the storm
From mainstream to obscure
His message is pure
He sings, and the audience hears
His guitar is his wand
That tightens the bond
To the things that we all hold most dear
And it’s artists like him
That keep us filled to the brim
With joy that they’re sharing their gift
With something to say
In a meaningful way
Through performances that shouldn’t be missed
He implements ideas
That brings crowds to tears
When evoking emotional tones
Or he’s quick with a pun
In lighthearted fun
Using beats that he made on his own
He’s a writer, producer
A linguistic abuser
Using rhymes that are multi-complex
His schemes are unreal
He’s got skill; the real deal
And he’s not shy to show you or flex
He’s a force on the scene
Far from routine
He’s got a voice that needs to be heard
He’s got an ear for his pitch
That’s melodic and rich
And he’s got talent that’s borderline absurd

Eyes Wide Shut
She couldn’t bear to look
She couldn’t bear to see
She hid behind a wall of lies
To escape her own beliefs
She stayed shut in the dark
She couldn’t even peek
She was too scared to face it all
Without the words she dare not speak

But then I came along
Swept her off her feet
Taught her to be strong
Instead of always weak
She shed now; tears of joy
Things no longer felt so bleak
Introduced her to her self again
I thought the two should meet
She learned to face her fears
She no longer screamed retreat
She found the courage to stand up tall
And land back on her feet
This poem is symbolic of what I dealt with with my depression, and finding the correct medication that helped me find my true self.

Even Par
I like the longs and the shorts
The cons and pros
All those whom oppose
The yeses and the no's

I like the sun on my face
To let go and embrace
The thrill of the chase
The fallen from grace

I like the smiles and frowns
Not staying inbounds
Crossing the line
The struggle and grind

I like the sweat on my brow
The highs and the lows
The quiet and loud
All the chaotic sounds

I like the freedom of speech
To learn and to teach
To ascend and to reach
To listen and preach

I like the feeling of touch
The wanting and giving too much
The love I see in your eyes
You all wrapped up in my clutch

I like to gaze at the stars
What's near by and what may be too far
To be even par
The naked but armed

I like the ocean and breeze
The swaying of leaves on the trees
To be calm and to be at ease
To come and go as I please

I like the softness of hair
Hope overcoming despair
Breathing in only clean air
Justice decisive and fair

I like what feels really good
To always be understood
The shouldn't and should
The couldn't now could

I like to lead by example
The strong and the ample
To indulge and to sample
More than we can handle

I like all the creative ways
To be productive at a fair wage
Having the courage to not be afraid
At the tears running down from my face

I like the joy and the sadness
Loving someone that has the whole package
The right of passage
And consummation of marriage

I like feeling fulfillment of heart
Gratitude that flies off the charts
The journey which we must embark
The separation before a new start

I like to dream in the night
To lift off and to take flight
To see further beyond what's in sight
Whether or not it feels wrong or feels right
Knowing full well the future is bright
Love how one sentence can form in our minds and leads to so so much more.

Through The Darkness
Pitter patter
Pitter patter
Tip-toed on supple feet
Through the house
Down the hall
Quietly discreet

The inhabitants of the household
Resting, sound asleep
Attempting not to breach the trust
I've worked so hard to keep

Anonymity is conducive
From past high levels of deceit
Striving diligently for a common goal
But one that can be reached

Not adapting to a stagnant life
Through the strangers that we'll meet
But protected by a safety net
Like a child under sheets

Not stampeded by the raging bulls
While others count their sheep
But hidden deep within the lions den
Where one can hear his own heartbeat

Has the beast succumb to his hunger
Is there nothing else to eat
Shall I end up as a midnight snack
Transformed into a pile of mincemeat

I grab hold of my foundation
Made from bittersweet concrete
Safe from harm or danger
A place where fear is obsolete

A gentle roar is humming now
The air begins to stir
I feel something approaching
I fear what will occur

Has my time come to its ending
Through the darkness I see light
I recognize the sound I hear
It's my mother, wishing me good night
The fear of the unknown should be embraced

Dreamland
It’s difficult to fall asleep
In the darkness with eyes closed
When your mind is racing
Off in parts unknown

Above the clouds, to the moon
Into space, while still in my room
A dream,
What wonder...
And not a moment too soon

Where to slip off to tonight?
What lands or planets to roam?
Will I travel to a far off land?
Accompanied, or alone?

Will I rummage through the forest
Among the trees so grown?
Will I travel to an oasis,
Battle for survival, in the thunder dome?

What adventures now await me
Right here in my home?
Will I be eaten by ferocious lions,
Or by a garden gnome?

I’ve battled demons
I’ve sat on thrones
I once conquered aliens
In my bathroom robe

I’ve swam with mermaids
I’ve spanned the globe
I once built an army
From the clothes in my wardrobe

What will I encounter?
Who will come or go?
It’s my subconscious after all
No one really knows.

Resist, resist, resist the urge to kiss
Look down, below, there's something that you missed
Breathe in, breathe out, the air between your lips
It seems, you've made, the top of every list

Hold on, hold back,
Before you make a fist
Delayed, restrained, ******* at the wrist
The judge, proclaimed, an order to desist
By now, we've learned, we finally get the gist

If, there was, any inkling of a doubt
Just know, I hold, and carry lots of clout
Supreme, in dream,
More than I'm allowed
My fear, out loud, that no one hears me pout

Games, are played, in the presence of a crowd
I spoke, was heard, and made everybody proud
From far, and wide, circling every town
We made, it clear, there is no need to shout

I've done, my share, both in and out of bounds
Like here, on earth, afoot on solid ground
Resist, resist, the urge to call it quits
I had, no idea, this ended with a twist

Man On The Moon
Man On The Moon

You know that life can be cruel, Life can be hard
I made up this tune, with this here guitar.
I'd sing it out loud
If I thought it would help
But it'll probably end up
Stored away on some shelf
Why do dreams only happen
While we're lying in bed
There's no happily ever afters
When we all end up dead
In the end.
In the end.

Our journey through life,
Has it's highs and it's lows
Just to come to the conclusion
That everyone of us knows
Why do we even bother
What good will it do
Will we ever arrive
And are you coming too
Was this all meant to be
Straight from the start
If so, I'd still let you in
To my bleeding red heart
The writing is there
There, up on the wall
So we'd better move fast
It's a short life after all.
A short life after all.
A short life after all.

We go through life always fighting
Surviving at best
Only to rot in a casket
After we're laid to rest
Come take my hand,
What have you got to lose
Throw caution to the wind
There's nothing more left to prove
I know I sound morbid
But I just can't comprehend
Why life's destination
Is that we all end up dead.
In the end.
In the end.

The bees have their honey
The flowers, they bloom
So why should we have to leave
And always so soon
Could it possibly be
Life's just one big cocoon
I'd sure like to believe that
And I'll bet you would too
So sun keep on rising
And growing hottest at noon
And I'll keep on pretending
There's a man on the moon.
A man on the moon.
A man on the moon.

Be kind to one another
Your mother, your brother
Your neighbors and others
Try and see the big picture
We are the cogs in the wheel
In the race to the finish
Everyone's healed
No more starvation
No more sick, no more ill
No more voids that need filling
No more bitter pills
We know not what awaits us
Only what we're leaving behind
I'm sure in the end
It'll all work out fine.
It'll all work out fine.
An idea grows
Where it stops
Nobody knows

Out In The Cold
I remember the days when you were the girl
Who came into my life
Nearly ruined my world
Since then, nothing's been the same
Caught in the thunder and the  rain

I still remember a time
When I professed to you my love
But you went over the line
And you put up your gloves
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

I've moved on with my life
Made a new start
Gave to another, my beating heart
We long for each other
When we're apart
She's the woman of my dreams

I wish you the best, there's no animosity
It just came to a point where I had to break free
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

I will never forget you
You're a part of my past
We should have known then
That it never would last

So I have to profess
That it broke my heart
Seeing you out in the cold
All alone in the dark

I related to your pain
I thought it was a shame
I was your Adam, you were my Eve
Until you bit the fruit off the forbidden tree
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

This isn't my problem, I'm well aware
But it doesn't mean I haven't a care
You never were one to not put up a fight
I know in the end
That you'll be all right
This is just the way it needed to be
I've gone and found the right one for me

Unity is where strength is found
Pick yourself up off the ground
Grab a hand and lead the way
Do it now, don't delay

There's no time like the present
It's all a state of mind
Don't let the powers that be
Allow progress be denied

Positivity and persistence
Will inevitably overcome
All obstacles set before you
Just as the shade is to the sun

Devastation
Devastation
Can’t comprehend
The fallout of these people’s land
Black smoke rising
Makes no sense
No enemies
No self defense
Just havoc
Without precedents
Explosive measures
Explosive times
Prayers be answered
For these peoples lives
This has to do with the Beirut explosion

A Single Drip
The power of the sun is felt
Worried that the ice will melt
Which will raise the ocean levels high
From the ankle to the upper thigh
And for that we’re ill-equipped
From what started as a single drip
Now as big as tidal waves
Flipping over ships

Raise The Bar
Emptied mind, clear of thought
Dreams envisioned, never sought
Life has never gone as planned
Lightning strikes where I stand
Ideas are formed and carried out
Never a question, never a doubt
An adventure of the grandest scale
We cannot falter, we cannot fail
Always forward, never reverse
The worlds a stage, never rehearsed
Adjust to all that comes our way
Never put off for tomorrow, what can be done today
Open your eyes and stay awake
Push your limits, never break
Feed your mind, harness ideas
Before all your hard work disappears
Connect to others, share your wealth
Maintain your body and your health
Strive for greatness, reach for stars
Expand your vision, raise the bar
Don't just settle, don't conform
Change your outlook, don't be forlorn
The journey is the greatest part
You'll never reach the ending, if you never start
A break away from depressing writings.

Just a Dream
I drink the juices of the forbidden fruits
Just to get the high
It sends me to the stratosphere
And through the other side
I see visions of a cotton field
It’s essence soft and white
The skies, a reverent blue
Where dreams have taken flight
Far away, I hear a sound
A melancholy tone
I listen for the drummers beat
Unabashed or known
The outliers, the simpletons, the women filled with moans
The relatives’ adoring eyes
“My, look how much you’ve grown”
But it never ever ends well
A token for your tears
No, it never ever ends well
In time we’ll disappear
All that we have built
Discoveries we’ve found
There’s no more evolution
Over leaps and bounds
So, I’d ask you for your patience
Before you try and pounce
It’s softer where we’re headed
Yet it’s often mispronounced
Open up your vocal chords
Let loose of all that you hold dear
Secrets you’ve never spoken of
For years, and years, and years
Let’s dance in the streets of fire
Let’s go make a scene
Ask me what’s my one desire
After all, it’s just a dream
Inspired by The Doors

Popped Balloon
I’m just sitting here,
Naked in my room

Waiting for the world to end
Maybe sometime this afternoon?

Whether it be 10 am,
Or somewhere closer to noon

There’s no need to panic
There’s still time to change your tune

Time to say farewell to loved ones
Before our impending doom

Watching, as the flowers wilt away
But, at least they got to bloom

Or maybe I’m just crazy
Evidently, a buffoon

I thought I’d grown sick of it all
But as it turns out, I’ve grown immune

I’ve been taking my medication
Fed to with silver spoon

Think I’ll metamorphosis
Right here in my cocoon

Turn into a butterfly
If only for the view

I ponder what the future holds
For I haven’t got a clue

Grey skies are the replacements for
What otherwise were blue

Another day that we grow closer
To popping our balloon

As the Sun sets down in the distant west
To make way for the moon

Our Bravado
Our bravado with our fists on hips
The patriotic stance
An image of a hero
That fails with every chance
The people I looked up to
Where freedom was enhanced
Ignored by all that turned their backs
As if they’re in a trance
Fixated on a notion
Down the beaten path
That nobody’s agreed upon
But life comes at you fast
