your attacker has a history of being baptized.  identifies as male.  was found hallucinating in a movie theater run by his father.  we shot him not knowing he’d already been.  his mother says his stutter is an act.  she is what we call empty inside.  you look like your father.
I've never felt this vital before,
as my knees shake with each step into the unknown.
A place where I am forced to grow,
standing tall with an iron backbone,
and of all the seeds that I have sown
none are comparable to the magnificence that is
just beginning to show.
The first of many poems to come about a little someone whose changing my world - my daughter or son!
It seems that I am indeed
Just another lost soul
Perhaps Floyd was right
Maybe the world is a fishbowl

But you see, the trouble
In all of this nonsense
Is that I still hope to see
You hop over my fence

Please tear down my wall
Oh, won't you come in?
I've been feeling comfortable
Yet numb, dismissing my sin

So what are we?
Essentially good, or not?
Do you find favor in Socrates?
Is Nietzche's idea the one you bought?

Let's question, let us wonder
Should my thoughts go assunder
Don't tip or toe, or go tumbling under
Nevermind the noise, it's just thunder

Get caught up in the spark
The rigid structure of light
Because you are alive
So live this gift of your life
Tell me about the time you realized his fingers were scissors
And he could never hold you without tearing you apart
Or about how his words are bullets that don't leave exit wounds
You'll carry this with you forever now
When did you notice that he never blinked
And I swear to God he has no idea what your face looks like
Darling
I  '  m  s  o  s  o  r  r  y
He looked at the sky and only saw the constellations
Not the stars that made up everything you dreamed of
He looked at you and only saw your skin
Not the cells and certainly not everything that it held in place
He held you and kissed your lips and he'll never remember you
As anything more than a dark room and stained bed sheets
You meant more to me than that
But I was less to you than you were to him
So just leave me be pulling on ropes with nothing on the other end
